Front of House Roles
Front of House (FOH)
The Front of House team is the welcoming face of JCo, creating a positive first impression for every guest. FOH responsibilities include greeting patrons, checking tickets, assisting with seating, keeping all front-of-house areas clean and organized, and supporting concessions and raffle operations. This is a great crew for first-time participants or students who are unable to miss school for daytime performances.
FOH members typically attend one training session before opening night and are not scheduled for School Day Matinees.
House Manager
The House Manager oversees the Front of House team, ensuring that all lobby, seating, and patron service operations run smoothly and efficiently during each performance.
Backstage Roles:
Costume & Hair/Makeup Run Crew
This crew works behind the scenes to support the visual transformation of the cast. Team members collaborate with the Costume and Hair/Makeup Designers to organize, maintain, and track all costumes, wigs, hairstyles, and makeup used throughout the production. Responsibilities include assisting with backstage quick changes, applying makeup or specialty effects, managing wigs and costume pieces, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during performances. Costume crew are required for all dress rehearsals and performances, including School Day Matinees.
Stage Crew
Stage Crew works behind the scenes to ensure smooth transitions and organization throughout the production. Responsibilities include moving scenery, managing and tracking props, and maintaining a safe and efficient stage area. Stage crew members are required for all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances—including School Day Matinees.
Fly System Operator
Fly System Operators are responsible, reliable team members who work backstage to operate the fly system during mainstage productions. This role requires the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds safely. Operators are required for all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances—including School Day Matinees.

Lighting Roles
Spotlight Operator
Spotlight Operators are responsible for running the spotlights during performances, helping to highlight key moments and performers on stage. Operators may be positioned in the catwalk, so they should be comfortable with modest heights and able to climb a ladder.
Spots are required for all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances—including School Day Matinees. Students must be at least 13 years old to serve as a Spotlight Operator.
Light Board Operator
The Light Board Operator is responsible for operating the light board during performances, ensuring all lighting cues are executed accurately and on time. The light board operator is required for all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances—including School Day Matinees.
Sound Operator
Sound Operators assist the Sound Designer with the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of wireless microphones and other audio equipment. During performances, they are responsible for running sound cues and live mixing cast microphones to ensure clear and balanced audio. Typically, two students share this role for each production.
Sound Operators are required for all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances—including School Day Matinees.
