Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Sowing Seeds! Below are descriptions of our current volunteer roles. Please review and indicate your areas of interest.
1. Food Assistance Helper
- Greet and assist customers as they choose food items from pantry shelves or outdoor distribution areas.
- Help carry bags or boxes as needed.
- Answer basic questions and provide a welcoming environment.
2. Check-In Assistant
- Welcome customers and help them sign in.
- Verify paperwork or eligibility if needed.
- Answer questions and direct customers to the shopping area.
3. Food Pick-Up & Unloading Crew
- Ride along to local stores, food banks, or donors to pick up food donations.
- Help load and unload food items at our pantry or storage area.
- Sort and store items properly.
4. Food Organizer & Stocker
- Sort and organize food items in storage and on pantry shelves.
- Check expiration dates and rotate stock.
- Prepare food for distribution events.
5. Mobile Food Pantry Driver
- Safely drive the mobile food pantry bus to offsite distribution locations.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely delivery.
- Must be comfortable driving a larger vehicle. - A helper will ride along to assist with distribution.
6. Grounds Maintenance Volunteer
- Help keep the pantry property and surrounding grounds clear of trash and debris.
- Assist with light yard work or small outdoor tasks as needed to keep the property tidy and welcoming.
7. Pantry Cleaner
- Help clean pantry floors, shelves, work areas, and common spaces.
- Tasks may include sweeping, mopping, wiping down surfaces, and taking out trash.
- May volunteer during times when the pantry is closed for easier access.
