CALL FOR MURALISTS & MURAL COLLECTIVES
Northside Walkway Mural – Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts
Presented by the Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) in collaboration with the Patchogue Theatre (PTPA)
Overview
PAC and PTPA invite proposals from individual artists or artist teams to design and paint an exterior mural for the Northside (walkway) façade of the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Mural Concept Theme: Deco Now — Welcome to Patchogue with PTPA
Building on the Theatre’s Art Deco historical architecture and an entertainment motif, this mural invites artists to fuse Deco geometry and glamour with the contemporary energy of Patchogue’s creative scene. Think radiant marquee light, stepped forms, fan rays, and elegant ornament reimagined as a modern field of motion—music, dance, film, comedy and performance arts flowing from the walkway to Main Street. The work should read as a civic embrace: the Theatre as a community staple and a gateway that warmly conceptually and figuratively includes the message "Welcome to Patchogue”
Designs should harmonize with the façade, utilize exposed brick while feeling fresh and inclusive, use a palette inspired by classic theatre tones, and balance bold distance legibility with layered details up close. PTPA is looking for a mural that will be a timeless statement that honors the past, reflects today’s community, and creates an iconic arrival moment for the village.
