Important Details

Chaperone Requirement:

There must be at least 1 adult chaperone (18+) for every 10 students. Adult chaperones fulfilling this required ratio will receive free admission. Any additional adults that surpass the 1:10 ratio will pay standard admission.

On the Day of Your Visit:

Groups are required to remain outside of our lobby and gather by the bicycle racks while the group leader pays admission for the group.
No more than 15 people from your group may be in our lobby, store, or restrooms at one time. Youths should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
We strongly suggest splitting up into groups of approx. 10 people while walking through the Gardens. Our historic paths are quite narrow, and smaller group sizes make for a more pleasant experience.

Please note: We cannot accommodate groups with buses that have not booked in advance. Buses that arrive without a confirmed booking may be turned away due, in part, to extremely limited bus drop off and pick up space.

*At this time, guided youth tours are fully booked for the 2025-2026 school year. Self-guided youth group visits are still available for March, April, and May.*

October through May: Group visits may start between 10 am (12 pm on Sundays) and 3 pm. The Gardens close at 4:30 pm.

June through September: During the summer months, all weekday self-guided youth visits will start at 10 am and end at 12 pm (unless otherwise agreed upon).

From time of arrival to departure, we can only accomodate groups for up to 2 hours max.

Accessibility & Accommodations

Most of our historic paths are ADA accessible. Wheelchairs/walkers are allowed but not provided. Some paths have a steep incline, but there are alternate ways to access all areas. Limited seating is located throughout.

We offer free standard vehicle parking, however spaces are limited and fill quickly.

We cannot easily accommodate bus parking during peak months of Oct. – May. (You will receive bus parking details after a staff member has confirmed your tour).

Groups are welcome to bring picnic lunches to enjoy during their visit. Picnic lunches in our shaded amphitheater must be coordinated in advance for groups of 10 or more. Packed lunches should be kept in coolers that are easy for chaperones to roll/carry to our outdoor picnic areas.

Group visit admission is to be paid in-person as one lump sum on the day of your visit. We do not accept advance payments at this time. The following calculation is an estimate and subject to change.

Admission & Payment Details for the Day of Your Visit

Self-guided discount: $1 will be taken off each adult/youth admission for self-guided groups of 10+ that pay in one lump sum on the day of their visit. This discount will be reflected in the calculation below.

Members may be admitted free of charge. No additional discounts or coupons may be used when booking a group visit.
We accept: Visa, MC, Discover, cash, and checks. Make checks out to Sunken Gardens.
No refunds will be issued. Checks made out in an amount larger than that which is due will not be refunded.
