We, the undersigned parents and residents of West Windsor Township, request immediate action to improve safety at school bus stops throughout our community, particularly along high-traffic roads such as Village Road West, Washington Road, Edinburg Road, Cranbury Road and other major corridors.
For years, families have witnessed repeated and dangerous incidents where drivers fail to stop for school buses with flashing lights. In just the first week of this school year, multiple parents reported vehicles driving past stopped school buses while children were boarding.
Our children’s lives should not depend on whether drivers choose to obey the law. Enforcement alone is not enough. We call for permanent infrastructure improvements and consistent deterrents to protect our students.
We respectfully request the following actions:
- Installation of “School Bus Stop Ahead” warning signs along Village Road West and other identified high-risk roads.
- Consideration of flashing or illuminated signage during school bus operating hours.
- Increased rotating police presence at key bus stops to establish stronger enforcement patterns.
- Township and school district collaboration to prepare for implementation of school bus camera enforcement if Bill #2624 passes in New Jersey.
Our children deserve safe passage to and from school. We urge township and school leaders to treat this with urgency.
By participating in this petition, you're joining your neighbors in voicing your concerns and advocating for solutions that benefit everyone. Your involvement is essential in shaping the future of our community and ensuring that it remains a vibrant, thriving place to live, work, and play.
