  • ABTA CLUB RULES & REGULATIONS CHECKLIST

    2025-2026
  • ABTA has established bylaws to guide the smooth and consistent operation of our organization at every level—provincial, regional, and club. These bylaws are shaped by the requirements of our funding partners, such as Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), by regulatory obligations under Alberta Corporate Registries, by the standards of our parent body, the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation (CBTF), and by ABTA’s own commitment to sound governance and good business practices.

The following guidelines must be implemented in all ABTA Clubs.  The checklist is pulled from the:

    • ABTA Bylaws - Article II - Membership - Section 7: Clubs.

Please submit this form by November 30, 2025

  • All Club Executive Members should review this checklist to ensure proper governance.

The Rules & Regulations Checklist must be submitted by a Club Executive member.

  • *IMPORTANT NOTE: Club Executive Makeup

If your club has related parties on the executive, please develop a transition plan to deal with this restriction. ABTA knows that this may impact some clubs and we want to work with those clubs to manage this situation and ease the transition.

Related parties are defined in the ABTA Bylaws as: Individuals connected by birth relationship (i.e., parent, child, brother, and sister), marriage, common‐law partnership, or adoption.

  • Consequences
A formal letter via email will be sent to all executives and parents, indicating their Club is non-compliant.

Should a club not comply with the above rules and regulations set out by ABTA, ABTA will hold its membership until the club complies.  Should these memberships be late for submission to CBTF (November 1, 2025), a late fee will be applied, and it will be the responsibility of the club to pay the membership and all late fees associated with that membership.

    Non-Compliant Websites
Club websites that are non-compliant will be removed from the ABTA website. Once the club provides proof of compliance, the website will be reinstated on the ABTA site.

    Use of Business Coaches
Clubs may hire a coach who operates their own business; however, all funds for lessons or related activities must be processed through the club, not through the coach’s business.

    Consequences for Non-Compliance
Clubs that remain non-compliant will be ineligible to compete or participate in ABTA or CBTF-sanctioned competitions or events.

If a club continues to be non-compliant, formal letters will be sent to facilities (e.g., gyms, school boards, leisure centers) stating that the club is no longer affiliated with the ABTA and is not covered by CBTF-provided insurance.

If a club remains non-compliant, its members will not be able to compete or participate in ABTA or CBTF-sanctioned competitions or events.

Should Clubs choose to remain non-compliant, letters will be sent to facilities (gyms, school boards, leisure centers) indicating that the Club is no longer associated with the ABTA and is not entitled to insurance coverage provided by the CBTF.
