Now is the time to register for the Hunterdon County November Photo Capture and Show! Registration is required to participate. While we encourage participants to join one of our guided events, you do not need to participate in the guided events to submit photos for the projected show.
  • Now is the time to register for the Hunterdon Photo Capture and Show! From November 1st until November 30th, local photographers of all ages are challenged to capture images throughout Hunterdon County. The Photo Capture culminates in a projected art show on Friday, December 5th at 6pm outside of Flemington DIY on Stangl Rd in Flemington NJ.

This creative challenge will get you outside, give you a chance to hone your photographic skills and join guided photo walks and workshops with other local photographers. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a gift card from local Flemington businesses. If selected, you must be present on Dec. 5 to receive your prize.

**Select photographs showcasing scenes from Flemington Borough may be considered for an exhibition at the Outdoor Gallery on Stangl Road (next to Humdoo Ice Cream). If interested in this consideration, more information will be provided at a later date.

Seeing the Unseen: A Mindful Photo Walk, Presented by Christianne Ebel

Slow down and really look. In this two‑hour guided walk starting at Flemington DIY, we’ll practice mindful seeing—tuning into light, texture, color, and chance moments. After a brief 15‑minute intro, we’ll explore town with a set of playful prompts that sharpen attention without limiting creativity (think reflections, repeating shapes, or “where the light changes”). We’ll start and end at DIY for a casual share and conversation: What did the moment tell you? What surprised you about what you noticed? Open to all cameras and skill levels (phones welcome). Come as you are; leave seeing differently.

Bring: phone or camera, comfy shoes. Skill level: beginner to advanced. Accessibility: gentle walking pace with frequent stops.

Changing Perspectives: Portrait & Self‑Portrait Lab, Presented by Christianne Ebel

Perspective changes everything—power, intimacy, and meaning. In this two‑hour hands‑on session at Flemington DIY, we’ll explore portraits and self‑portraits through framing, angle, distance, and the stories they imply. After a short mini‑lesson, you’ll work in pairs to photograph each other from multiple perspectives (from above/below, through objects, with light and shadow), then create a self‑portrait that shows how you see yourself—not how others see you. Participants can experiment with LED color‑changing lights and everyday or sentimental objects as props to shape mood and meaning. We’ll close with a supportive group reflection on choices, feelings, and narrative.

Bring: phone or camera; optional personal or sentimental object. Skill level: beginner to advanced. Accessibility: seated and standing shooting options available.
