Company
Auxira is reinventing how cardiology care teams scale. We embed virtual pods of experienced Advanced Practice Providers, Medical Assistants, and RNs into existing workflows—expanding capacity without overhauling infrastructure or burning out physicians. Backed by MedStar Health, Abundant Ventures, and the American Heart Association, Auxira delivers measurable improvements in access, revenue, and provider well-being.
The Role
The Lead Nurse Practitioner (Lead NP) is both a hands-on clinician and a people leader. You’ll oversee a team of 10–15 cardiology NPs/APPs, ensuring they deliver exceptional virtual care while meeting performance, quality, and patient experience goals.
This role blends clinical leadership, operational oversight, and continuous improvement. You’ll be responsible for coaching and developing your team, building strong physician relationships across multiple practices, and partnering with Auxira’s leadership to advance workflows and innovation at scale.
What You’ll Do
Provide Exceptional Clinical Care
- Deliver virtual care to patients with stable and lower-acuity cardiovascular conditions.
- Conduct assessments, manage follow-ups, handle test results, and educate patients and families.
- Maintain zero-inbox standards by addressing patient portal messages, orders, and labs daily.
- Convert patient inquiries into visits where appropriate, targeting ~11–13 visits per day when in clinical mode.
Lead and Support Your Team
- Directly manage a team of 10–15 APPs, providing coaching, mentorship, and accountability.
- Ensure team performance against key clinical and operational metrics (visit volume, documentation timeliness, inbox management, patient satisfaction, and physician feedback).
- Support onboarding and training for new APPs, ensuring readiness for independent practice.
- Create a culture of collaboration, empathy, and trust within the team and across pods.
Partner with Physicians and Practices
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the physicians your APPs support.
- Ensure continuity, consistency, and alignment between your APP team and their partnered cardiologists.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for physicians with questions or concerns about APP performance.
- Represent Auxira’s clinical standards and reinforce trust with partner practices.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Identify workflow gaps and operational pain points, and implement improvements in collaboration with Auxira’s leadership.
- Champion innovation in clinical workflows, documentation, scheduling, and patient engagement.
- Share insights from your team to inform Auxira’s broader playbook for scaling virtual specialty care.
- Contribute to organizational initiatives designed to improve patient access, provider well-being, and system sustainability.
Professional Qualifications
- Certified and credentialed (DEA, Medicare, Medicaid) and licensed in at least one of the following: Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
- 7+ years of experience in cardiovascular care; at least 3+ years leading or mentoring APPs or clinical teams.
- Skilled in remote care tools, telehealth platforms, and virtual patient management.
- Communicative, collaborative, and confident working independently in a remote setting.
- Demonstrated success managing team performance and driving results in a metrics-oriented environment.
- Skilled in telehealth platforms, EHR workflows, and virtual patient management.
- Strong communicator, trusted leader, and collaborator with physicians, peers, and executives.
- Comfortable balancing clinical work with leadership responsibilities.
- Multi-state licensure strongly preferred; willingness to travel periodically for team engagement and physician relationship-building.
The ideal Experiences Include
- A growth mindset with hunger to continuously improve patient care, workflows, and team performance.
- Proven coaching and mentorship skills, with the ability to inspire, support, and develop APPs.
- Comfort making data-driven decisions and holding teams accountable to measurable outcomes.
- A track record of innovation in clinical operations — finding better ways to deliver care at scale.
- Strong relationship-building skills with physicians and colleagues, rooted in trust and collaboration.
