Nashville Repertory Theatre is excited to present an Acting In Song Masterclass with Broadway performer Alan Mingo Jr. at Lipscomb University’s Shamblin Theatre. Alan is in Nashville starring as the Wiz in the national tour of The Wiz at TPAC (September 23-28), and he’ll spend the afternoon working with participants on how to connect character and story to vocal performance.

With more than three decades of experience on Broadway and beyond, including roles in Kinky Boots, Rent, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King, Alan brings a wealth of knowledge from his career and will also leave time for Q&A with attendees.

This masterclass is designed especially for students and young artists, but anyone is welcome to attend. Five participants will have the chance to perform a song of their choice and receive one-on-one coaching from Alan ($75). He’ll focus on the acting side of performance, helping singers deepen their storytelling, character work, and audition technique. Participants should come prepared with a musical theatre song that represents who they are as a singer/actor.

All others may observe the class and gain valuable insight as auditors ($15).
