Our goal at Balloon Artisan is to find people who embody our core values, have big goals they want to achieve, want to be part of a culture like ours, and actually want to join the Balloon Artisan team. We are not trying to appeal to everyone who is looking for a job.
Because we are a remote-only company we get an insane number of applicants each time we open a position. We have historically asked 4 getting to know you / screening questions which help us differentiate the candidates that are intentional about their answers and worth interviewing and which ones are just spam applying for jobs.
BUT... here's the problem. AI has made it easier than ever for someone to appear interested and complete the questions with nearly zero effort. Since all of the AI answers sound nearly identical, it's hard to differentiate serious candidates who would be a good fit from those who have simply mastered the art of copy + pasting.
We've had AI copy + pasters make it through our interview process and they last about 2 weeks on our team. The truth comes out very quickly.
So we decided to try an experiment that will:
• Help quality candidates stand out
• Scare off the lazy ones - This team is not for the faint of heart, Balloon Artisan is a fast paced and challenging enviroment. Winners will love it here. Big challenges, lots of growth, and big earning potential. People who want to coast and just bring home a pay check will hate it.
• Save our team hundreds of hours of reading the same generic AI responses over and over and over again.
• Find people we genuinely believe will succeed here so we don't waste people's time if they are a bad fit.
Here's what you need to do. Create a video where you answer the following questions and share it with us:
1. Why do you want to join the Balloon Artisan team?
2. What specifically has you looking for a new job?
3. What experience do you have that will prepare you to excel at this role?
4. Tell us about your past event experience. If you have any prior sales experience, please tell us a bit about that as well.
5. Tell us about a major life goal that you are excited about
You can make the video using Loom.com (probably the easiest way) or vimeo. You can also take a video with your phone / computer and upload it directly to your application using the upload function below (or upload the video to google drive/ dropbox then share the link below).
Our promise to you... We know it takes effort to do this so while making a video won't guarantee an interview, we promise we will watch each video that is submitted so please know your effort won't be wasted.
