Because honors courses are typically writing intensive, this statement should reflect your writing skills. Take time to write, rewrite, and edit. Share your writing with a instructor, counselor, tutor, or friend for comments. Ensure the words and language you use are your own. The essay will be part of the criteria considered in gaining admission to the program.
Respond to one of the following prompts in a minimum of 250 words, up to 350 words:
- What has particularly inspired you in your learning? Describe how and why this knowledge or experience has been valuable and meaningful for you.
- Honors courses include content that encourages students to consider new perspectives, new ways of thinking and being. Write about a situation or idea that has challenged you. Tell your readers how you handled it and where it has led.
- Honors students are curious learners. What knowledge, idea, or experience has piqued your curiosity? And, where has this knowledge, idea, or experience led you?
