The new School of Dentistry will be a six story structure totaling 312,986 GSF and will house the state of the art VCU School of Dentistry, Dentistry Clinics, and Educational Lab programs for the school. The facility will provide cutting-edge equipment and technology, serving more than 500 students. Supporting spaces will include 5 classrooms and 2 simulation classrooms (Two, 130 person flat; One 130 person tiered; and two, 66 person flat) environments ranging from small group meeting spaces to larger lecture rooms, simulation and practice laboratories with 145 simulation benches: (110 in the simulation lab; and 35 in the practice lab), academic laboratories, and general and specialty practice clinics with 246 operatories, 2 operating rooms, serving 32,000 patients per year; 100,000 + patient visits per year. The building will function as an inclusive oral health care delivery center, welcoming approximately 1,000 patients daily. Food service will be provided by a 'grab and go' cafe located adjacent to the main entrance lobby, in addition to provisions for food trucks along Turpin Street. Mechanical equipment will be located in the basement level and on the roof, including an enclosed penthouse.
