MLegal is launching a Graduate Associate Fellowship to develop the next generation of Muslim legal thinkers and advocates. The Fellowship provides a pathway for young graduates to gain direct exposure to the legal and policy debates shaping Britain today - from equality and freedom of expression to counter-terrorism and Islamophobia. This is not an internship or employment scheme, but a voluntary associate role. It combines learning, mentorship, and contribution, giving graduates the chance to deepen their skills while contributing to MLegal’s research and advocacy.
What Associates Gain:
- Exposure to high-level legal and policy discussions.
- Mentorship from experienced practitioners in law, policy, and advocacy.
- Practical experience contributing to research, policy notes, and briefings.
- Recognition: credit on published outputs, LinkedIn endorsements.
- Community: membership of a network of like-minded peers committed to justice and equality.
What We Expect:
Commitment: minimum around 3–5 hours per week (flexible, remote).
Duration: 3 months (renewable on mutual agreement).
Tasks may include:
- Joining monthly roundtable calls.
- Supporting research (case notes, literature reviews, policy scans).
- Contributing to drafting advocacy materials.
Values: commitment to equality, justice, and respectful collaboration.
Confidentiality: associates must keep MLegal discussions private.
Structure & Support Rolling intake of associates throughout the year. Onboarding with an induction pack (values, expectations, safeguarding, confidentiality).
Coordination by the Policy & Advocacy Lead. Recognition of contributions on MLegal’s platforms and at key events.
We welcome applications from graduates in all disciplines who have a strong interest in justice, equality, and rights. No prior legal training is required - only curiosity, critical thinking, and commitment.
There is no fixed deadline; applications will be considered as they are received throughout the year.
