Phlebotomy Refresher

This program offered in conjunction with the Consortium for Worker Education (CWE) is for members who have prior formal Phlebotomy training or experience, including a Phlebotomy certification that may have expired. In this course, members will be refreshed on setting up and performing routine venipuncture, routine capillary puncture and special collection procedures and understanding clinical disorders and emergencies affecting the heart and the entire cardiovascular system. Included in this course is 4 hours of dedicated test prep for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exam.

Training Admission Requirement

As this program prepares members for certification through the NHA, candidates must have completed a formal Phlebotomy training program with an accredited training provider or healthcare institution before they will be accepted into this program. This prior formal training is a prerequisite. Note that this refresher course is not a full training program. While candidates do not need to already hold a certification, they must provide documentation verifying where their formal training was completed. A copy of a certificate of prior Phlebotomy training or an expired Phlebotomy certification will suffice. You will be required to upload a copy of your certificate to complete your application.

All candidates who meet the above requirement will still need to pass an assessment of Phlebotomy content knowledge. Please note that training takes place over 30 hours with 10 sessions, each 3 hours in length. All sessions will be held virtually except for the last two sessions which will be in person at CWE’s training lab located at: 83 Maiden Lane, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10038
