Appointments, Quotes & Service Area
Estimates are valid for 30 days and may change due to material availability, market conditions, incorrect vehicle information, or additional damage discovered during service.
Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Missed appointments and late cancellations may result in a $50 fee. Please allow a 60-minute arrival window for mobile service.
A travel fee may apply outside Kuna, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Boise, and Eagle. Severe weather, extreme temperatures, unsafe conditions, inaccessible locations, or material shortages may require service to be delayed or rescheduled.
Shields Auto Glass reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service, including warranty service, due to safety concerns, inadequate access, unsuitable working conditions, threatening or inappropriate behavior, or other circumstances that prevent the work from being performed safely.
Pricing, Parts & Payment
Pricing is based on the vehicle year, make, model, body style, glass location, selected glass, required features, and information provided at the time of the estimate. If incorrect or incomplete vehicle information is provided, pricing may change. Any price change will be communicated before additional work is performed.
If hidden damage, missing components, broken parts, previous improper repairs, rust, corrosion, or other unexpected conditions are discovered after work begins, Shields Auto Glass may stop service and contact the customer. Additional parts, labor, or charges require customer authorization before proceeding.
Glass and parts are frequently ordered specifically for the customer’s vehicle. Deposits and payments for specially ordered materials may become nonrefundable once the order has been placed. Completed services are final and nonrefundable except as required by law or covered by the Shields Auto Glass workmanship warranty.
If the customer will not be present during service, full payment must be completed before the appointment through a secure payment link. A processing surcharge may apply to eligible credit-card transactions where permitted by law and card-network rules.
Mobile Service Requirements
The customer must provide a safe, flat, and accessible work area with at least five feet of clearance around the vehicle. The vehicle must be at the agreed service address, unlocked, and cleared of personal belongings that could interfere with service.
The customer is not required to remain present. However, the person scheduling the appointment must ensure that the vehicle and keys are accessible. If the customer will not be present, keys must be left in a secure, accessible location with clear instructions explaining where they can be found and returned.
Shields Auto Glass will follow the customer’s key-handling instructions but is not responsible for keys that are lost, stolen, or left unsecured after being returned to the designated location.
If the vehicle is inaccessible, keys are unavailable, payment has not been completed, or the work area does not meet service requirements, the appointment may be canceled or rescheduled and a service fee may apply.
Temperature & Weather Requirements
During hot weather, customers must provide a shaded, covered, or otherwise suitable work area whenever reasonably available. During cold weather, customers may be asked to keep the vehicle in a garage or allow it to warm before the technician arrives.
Extreme heat, direct sunlight, cold glass, rain, snow, wind, or other unsuitable conditions can affect technician safety, glass handling, adhesive performance, and installation quality. Shields Auto Glass may allow the vehicle or glass to cool or warm, reposition the vehicle with permission, or delay or reschedule service when conditions are unsuitable.
Vehicle Access & Authorization
The customer authorizes Shields Auto Glass technicians to access, unlock, start, reposition, and operate the vehicle and its windows, locks, wipers, mirrors, electronics, cameras, sensors, and related components as reasonably necessary to perform, inspect, and test the requested service.
The customer agrees to disclose any prior damage, previous glass work, body work, repainting, rust, corrosion, aftermarket modifications, electrical issues, or other known problems before service begins.
Shields Auto Glass may take photographs or videos of the vehicle before, during, and after service for condition documentation, quality control, training, insurance purposes, and dispute resolution.
Pre-Existing Damage & Vehicle Condition
Automotive components may become brittle, weakened, rusted, worn, or damaged due to age, heat, weather exposure, previous repairs, or prior removal.
Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for pre-existing damage or for trim, clips, moldings, cowling panels, rubber seals, fasteners, wiring, paint, clear coat, or other components that crack, break, lift, loosen, warp, or fail during normal handling because of their existing condition.
Paint or clear coat may lift, peel, chip, or become damaged during normal glass removal or installation, particularly on vehicles with prior body work, repainting, rust, corrosion, oxidation, or weakened paint adhesion.
Some trim, rubber, cowling, and molding components may not sit perfectly flush due to vehicle design, age, previous repairs, or existing wear. Technicians may trim excess rubber for appearance unless the customer requests otherwise before service begins.
Rust, Corrosion & Structural Damage
Rust, corrosion, structural damage, and previous improper repairs around the glass opening may prevent proper fitment, adhesion, or sealing. Primer may support adhesion but does not remove or repair rust and cannot guarantee that leaks, wind noise, or future corrosion will not occur.
Shields Auto Glass may stop work if the vehicle’s condition prevents a safe or proper installation. Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for leaks, wind noise, fitment problems, or adhesive failure caused by rust, corrosion, structural damage, prior installation work, or pre-existing vehicle conditions.
Remove-and-Reinstall Services
Removing previously installed glass carries a risk of cracking or breakage, even when proper tools and procedures are used. For remove-and-reinstall services, the customer accepts the risk that the existing glass may crack or break during removal, reinstallation, or afterward. Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for replacement costs unless the damage was caused by proven negligence.
Customer-Provided Glass & Parts
Shields Auto Glass cannot guarantee the quality, fit, performance, compatibility, or safety of customer-provided glass or parts. No warranty is provided on customer-supplied materials. Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for defects, incorrect fitment, leaks, wind noise, electrical problems, breakage, premature failure, or safety concerns caused by customer-provided components. Any workmanship warranty applies only to labor performed by Shields Auto Glass.
Glass Quality & Manufacturing Variations
Automotive glass may contain minor optical distortion, waves, blemishes, markings, or other manufacturing variations that fall within applicable manufacturer or industry standards.
Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for acceptable manufacturing variations or for damage caused after installation by impacts, road debris, vehicle stress, temperature changes, accidents, vandalism, or other outside causes.
Stickers, Accessories & Electronics
Shields Auto Glass cannot guarantee that windshield stickers, parking permits, toll passes, car-wash tags, inspection stickers, membership decals, or similar items can be removed or preserved. The customer is responsible for obtaining any required replacements.
Dash cameras, wiring, tint strips, transponders, GPS units, radar detectors, aftermarket mirrors, adhesive mounts, and other accessories may need to be removed. Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for accessories that cannot be reattached, no longer adhere properly, lose stored settings, or fail due to age, wear, previous installation, aftermarket wiring, or pre-existing conditions.
Rear-view mirrors may contain cameras, sensors, auto-dimming features, compass modules, temperature displays, garage-door controls, lighting, wiring, or other electronics. Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for features that fail because of age, wear, previous damage, aftermarket modifications, wiring problems, or other pre-existing conditions.
Window Motors, Regulators & Electrical Components
Diagnosis and service are based on the symptoms and vehicle condition present at the time of inspection. A failed motor and a failed regulator are separate problems and may require separate parts and labor charges. Replacing one component does not guarantee that another related component will not require replacement.
Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for unrelated or pre-existing electrical problems, wiring damage, switches, control modules, locks, programming issues, or components that were not included in the authorized service.
ADAS & Windshield Calibration
This section applies only to vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, or other camera-assisted features.
Shields Auto Glass performs dynamic ADAS calibration on eligible vehicles when requested or determined necessary. Calibration is not automatically included with every windshield replacement, and additional charges may apply.
Some vehicles require static calibration, combination calibration, dealership programming, or manufacturer-specific procedures that Shields Auto Glass does not perform. The customer may be referred to a qualified third-party provider and is responsible for scheduling, transportation, and payment unless covered by insurance.
Shields Auto Glass cannot guarantee coverage or reimbursement and is not responsible for third-party scheduling, delays, workmanship, results, costs, insurance decisions, warning lights, or system performance concerns resulting from declined, delayed, incomplete, unsuccessful, or third-party calibration.
The customer should immediately report warning lights, error messages, or unusual ADAS behavior after windshield replacement and should not rely on an affected safety feature until it has been inspected.
Workmanship Warranty
Shields Auto Glass provides a lifetime workmanship warranty on windshield and other glass replacements for as long as the original customer owns the vehicle. The warranty covers installation-related water leaks, wind noise, or adhesive failure caused by Shields Auto Glass’s workmanship.
The warranty does not cover rock chips, impacts, accidents, vandalism, road damage, customer-provided parts, normal wear, rust, corrosion, body or structural damage, previous improper work, pre-existing conditions, manufacturing defects, acceptable optical variations, extreme temperature changes, failure to follow aftercare instructions, or work performed by another person or company.
The customer must notify Shields Auto Glass and provide a reasonable opportunity to inspect and correct a claimed workmanship issue before arranging repairs through another provider. Unauthorized third-party work may void warranty coverage for the affected area.
Installation Safety & Aftercare
The customer agrees to follow all aftercare instructions provided by the technician. When adhesive is used, the vehicle must remain parked for the safe-drive-away time provided by the technician. This time may vary based on the adhesive, weather, vehicle, and installation.
Any retention tape should remain in place for at least 24 hours unless the technician provides different instructions. Paint-safe tape is used, but lifting may still occur on rusted, aged, oxidized, repainted, or weakened surfaces.
Avoid automatic and high-pressure car washes for seven days after glass replacement. Failure to follow safety or aftercare instructions may affect installation safety and applicable warranty coverage.
Insurance Disclaimer
Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for insurance claim denials, processing delays, coverage limitations, deductible disputes, or reimbursement decisions. The customer is responsible for confirming coverage and deductible amounts. Unless Shields Auto Glass has accepted direct payment from the insurer, the customer remains responsible for all amounts owed.
Customer Property & Limitation of Responsibility
Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for personal belongings left inside the vehicle or for resetting radios, clocks, cameras, sensors, mirrors, saved preferences, or vehicle settings after service.
To the extent permitted by law, Shields Auto Glass is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including rental-vehicle expenses, lost wages, business interruption, downtime, or loss of vehicle use. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility where prohibited by applicable law.
Third-Party Authorization
If service is scheduled or authorized by a fleet manager, dealership, rental company, employer, family member, or other third party, that person confirms they have permission to authorize the service and is responsible for providing accurate information, communicating these terms, and arranging payment.
