    Understanding our community through food
  • Food is more than something we eat — it is a way to understand one another. The tradition of a holiday meal , a favorite meal, or a recipe passed down from a home country tells a story about the experience, history, and culture that shaped us as individuals. When shared, these dishes help us see how those personal histories come together to shape our Lafayette County community.

This project, led by University of Mississippi student Ali Blackburn, invites students, residents, farmers, chefs, canners, and casserole lovers to submit not just their favorite recipes but also the stories that make them meaningful. The story is as important as the recipe — together they create an opportunity to learn from one another, celebrate our diverse backgrounds, and strengthen the bonds that connect us all.

This is an open invitation to share your favorite recipe, meal and story.
