    Application form for choirs selected to compete in A1 - A5
  • Each year many of the finest amateur choirs in the world compete for the prestigious Choir of the World Pavarotti Trophy and £3000. The winners of competition A1 to A5 will compete against each other on the final night of competitions, therefore it is important that all choirs stay until Monday (13th July). For the Sunday evening Choir of the World Final each choir should prepare a contrasting programme of up to 10 minutes of music. The Jayne Davies Conductor’s Prize of £200 and an International Medal will be awarded to the most inspirational conductor of the Choir of the World finalists.

    Please complete the form below if you have been accepted to compete in any of the following competitions : Mixed Choirs, Barbershop Choirs, Female Voice Choirs, Male Voice Choirs and  Open Choirs. You will need to complete one form for each of qualifying competitions. For example, if you compete in Mixed Choirs and Open Choirs, you will need to submit two separate forms as your repertoires are likely to be different.

    To complete this form you will need with you:

    • details of the competition you are entering;
    • information about your musical director / conductor;
    • a copy of each of the pieces which you plan to perform in the Choir of the World (your repertoire);
    • if you are not the musical director, authority to act on their behalf.
  • About your choir

  • Our audiences are very interested in the choirs which perform at Llangollen, so we are going to ask you some questions about your choir and its musical director (which may be you). We need this information because we will prepare notes for the stage presenter and for the television company in advance. The presenters will use this information to tell the audiences about your choir as you go onto the stage.

    If you have already completed this section for a different category, please state that in the boxes below - you do not need to complete it more than once.

  • What are you going to perform ?

  • We are going to ask you about your repertoire for the Choir of the World Competition. You need to prepare a contrasting programme of up to 10 minutes of music. We advise you to vary this from your compeition programme in the previous round, although you may choose to repeat some of the pieces. At least one unaccompanied work must be included (original or arrangement).

    You do not need to put the pieces in performance order as we will confirm that with you on the day of the competition.
