Summer Collection Hours

In compliance with Maryland’s Heat Stress Standard, starting Monday, June 22nd through Friday, September 4th, trash, recycling, food scraps, and yard trim curbside collections will begin an hour earlier at 5:00 a.m. To ensure collection of your trash, recycle, food scrap, and yard trim items, the Bureau reminds residents to please make sure items are placed out either the night before your designated collection day or by 5:00 a.m. on the day of collection.

Missed or partial collection?

Remember! All material must be out the night before or by 5:00 a.m. on your collection day. 

If your materials were set out before 5:00 a.m. and they don't contain any unacceptable items, please leave them at the curb before submitting this form.

We offer one free recycling container per residence with County collection services. Additional carts may be purchased.

Wheel Repair

Missing a wheel for your 65-gallon cart? Wheels are available at Kendall Hardware (12260 Clarksville Pike) ACE Hardware Columbia (8895 McGaw Road) and our office (9801 Broken Land Parkway). Stop by to pick one up!

Bulk Trash

Bulk trash collection is for broken household items (no construction/demolition debris). Collected materials will be sent to a landfill.

For gently used or unwanted items, see our Donation Directory for local organizations that accept items and offer curbside pickup.

Scrap Metal

Scrap metal collection is intended for oversized non-donatable metal items only.

Items that will fit in your vehicle (microwave, toaster, etc.) should be brought to the Residents’ Convenience Center at Alpha Ridge Landfill for recycling.
