  • Pesticide use

  • Visitors to our website use native plants to support pollinators and herbivorous insects. While pesticides and fungicides can be useful in nursery production, certain formulations persist on plants after purchase, resulting in harm to insects in the landscape. We respectfully ask that you answer these questions to the best of your ability, so that our visitors can make informed decisions about the materials best suited for their plantings.

Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation researches the pesticide residues on nursery plants, and we have borrowed their wording for the following questions. For more information on growing bee-safe nursery plants, visit their website here: https://xerces.org/pesticides/bee-safe-nursery-plants

  • Please indicate which of the following statements regarding pesticide use is accurate for your operation. As needed, you may further explain any items in the "other" field (example: we use a neonicotinoid only on a quarantine pest). Please check all that apply.*
  • For retailers, do you use any of the following practices to check your plant suppliers' use of pollinator-friendly growing practices? As needed, you may further explain your practices in the "other" field. Please check all that apply.*
