- 10:00 – 10:20 AM: Member's Gallery Scavenger Hunt
Explore Barbara Mann’s work in the Member’s Gallery with this fun self-led scavenger hunt!
- 10:20 – 10:45 AM: Artist Talk and Q&A
Metal & jewelry artist Barbara Mann will walk students and families through her exhibit, "Forging Connections: Metal Art inspired by the Marine Carbon Cycle". She will explain how the carbon cycle and its connection to marine ecosystems inspires her work, as well as how she created her pieces. Her work aims to foster curiosity, motivate further study, and encourage protecting the marine ecosystem.
- 10:50 – 11:10 AM: Live Demonstration
Barbara Mann will demonstrate how to melt and pour silver into a cuttlefish bone to create a small-scale object.
- 11:15 – 12:00 PM: Hands-On Activity
Learn the technique of chasing and repoussé on copper, one of the oldest ways of working metal. Create a keepsake to take home!
Bring a picnic and enjoy lunch in our Sculpture Garden afterwards!
All ages welcome! All children must be supervised, no drop-offs.
