  • The Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys, Inc.'s ("LIWOCA") mission is to:

    • Help ​attorneys ​in ​law ​firms ​and​ legal ​departments​ develop​ the​ critical skills ​necessary ​to ​become​ partners ​and ​leaders​ in ​the ​legal ​profession;
    • ​Assist law ​firms​ and ​legal ​departments​ to ​retain ​and ​promote​ women ​of ​color ​attorneys; and
    • Continue​ to ​fuel ​the ​pipeline ​by ​offering​ scholarships ​to deserving students
  • 2026 LIWOCA Scholarship Information and Application

    SCHOLARSHIPS
    Up to five (5) scholarships in amounts determined by LIWOCA will be awarded at the discretion of the organization.

    ELIGIBILITY
    Law students who:

    • have completed at least one year of law school -  2L & 3L students only
    • are attending an accredited law school in the U.S. at the time of their application;
    • are in good standing in their law schools;
    • have a minimum GPA of 2.8 (equivalent) or better;
    • have completed the scholarship application and submitted an unofficial transcript; and
    • have demonstrated a commitment to the legal profession and are active in their community and law school.

    TRANSCRIPT

    All applicants must submit a law school transcript. Emailed copies of unofficial transcripts sent directly from the candidate's law school are acceptable. Transcripts should be sent via email directly from the candidate's law school to info@leadingwomenofcolor.org.  Unoffical transcripts sent by the student will NOT be accepted.

    DEADLINE/AWARD DECISIONS

    Please carefully read this application.

    Make sure the information you provide is complete and accurate.

     Applications may be submitted until February 6th, 2026 at 11:59pm EST.  Any applications or supporting documents received after the deadline will automatically be disqualified from consideration.  Award decisions will be made shortly thereafter.

    All scholarship award recipients must attend the Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys' 2026 annual conference, to be held March 25-27, 2026, at the GA Bar in Atlanta, GA.  Conference registration and travel fees will be covered for all scholarship award recipients.
