Buffalo Prep advocates for educational access and equity and provides programming to academically ambitious scholars. We strive to nurture our scholars’ brilliance while empowering them to engage civically as their authentic selves.
High School Prep is an enrichment program for motivated scholars in Western New York. It is an intensive, 14-month program that prepares students for acceptance to and success at top independent, Catholic, charter and criteria-based public schools and higher education.

High School Prep takes place at the University at Buffalo South Campus the summers before and after 8th grade, as well as two nights per week and on Saturdays during the 8th grade academic year.

The 2026 summer session will start July 6 and run Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. until August 7.

PLEASE THOROUGHLY READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW AS IT PERTAINS TO THE APPLICATION PROCESS
- The application deadline is Friday, February 18, 2026.
- Paper applications are available upon request.
- There is a $150.00 fee to participate in this program. The fee is due before the start of programming in July 2026. If there is a barrier to making this payment, or you would like to create a payment plan, please contact eguzman@buffaloprep.org.
For your scholar to be considered, please complete the following steps:
- Complete and submit this application
- Submit a 300-word essay written by your scholar. Topics will be shared with families after we receive your application
- Attend Open House or an Information Session (the dates will be included in your application packet)
- Turn in an Academic Records Request Form to the Main office at your scholar's school(s)
- Ask two teachers for recommendations and provide them with the Teacher Recommendation Form
- Confirm your household income Click here for income eligibilty guidelines. If you have access to them, you may upload your tax documents (1040's) at the end of this application
- Take the OLSAT entrance exam at Buffalo Prep
- Schedule an in-person interview
After we receive your application, we will mail you a packet with information on how to complete these steps and a representative from our office will be in touch to help answer any remaining questions.

As part of the High School Prep application process, all applicants are required to complete an entrance exam, which will be administered at Buffalo Prep’s facility on the University at Buffalo South Campus

I hereby give permission for Buffalo Prep to administer the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test.

I understand the results of the academic and intelligence tests will be proprietary for Buffalo Prep's use only.
