  • KY UPCI Global Missions 2026 Schedule

  • Thank you for your incredible support of our Global Missionaries. The United Pentecostal Church exists to spread the whole Gospel, to the whole World, by the Whole Church. This means every church in our district can help spread the Gospel by supporting our missionaries as they travel through Kentucky.

We plan to have the 2026 deputation schedule for our 20+ missionaries coming to Kentucky completed by January 1, 2026. You can schedule missionaries for a full service or just give them 10-15 minutes in service. If you can’t afford to have them for a service - consider hosting a missionary or at least giving them an offering only.

A "hosting" would involve ONE or a combination of any of these three things: (1) Take the missionaries out to eat on a night you don’t have service, (2) Place them in a hotel at your expense, or (3) Give the missionaries an offering of at least $100. We are asking every church in the district to have two missionary engagements (services or hostings) in 2026 whatever is most convenient for you.

The Kentucky District is centrally located in the United States and we do an outstanding job of hosting missionaries. In Kentucky, there are untapped resources of blessings for both our churches and missionaries. We believe God is going to bless our churches and missionaries with great revival this year!

Please complete the following form to schedule the dates that you would like to have this year. (Because of I Am Global, some of these missionaries will be sent back to the field early, so we will be replacing them with other missionaries as needed. We do not know ahead of time when or to whom this will be happening. Thank you for understanding.)

If you aren't sure what to do for next year's planning, please consider sending an offering to KY Global Missions at your earliest convenience, which could be used to cover an offering only for any missionary as needed.

We would like to encourage every church/pastor in Kentucky to try to send a $1,200 offering to I AM GLOBAL by September 2026 to help send our traveling missionaries back to their fields sooner. (If every UPCI church would do this - we could send all of them back each year with no more than six months of deputation travel.) Here is the link to do that: https://www.globalmissions.com/giving/i-am-global-online-giving.aspx

    Desi and Rachel Lugo

    Missionaries to New Zealand

Desi and Rachel Lugo met in Bible school (CLC), were married in 2003, and have three children. Both are ordained ministers with the UPCI and before missions, they served in many different capacities at churches in California, Missouri, Delaware, and Louisiana. Immediately after their wedding, they started as Sunday school teachers and progressed to youth pastors, young adults, and then assistant pastors. In 2015, Desi completed his Master’s in Theological Studies at UGST. While in St. Louis they served as guest care, new converts, and discipleship leaders at the Sanctuary. In 2017 they moved to Newark, Delaware, and joined the pastoral team of Jacob’s Well where both served as full-time pastors until they transitioned to Global Missions.

In April 2021, they moved to the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu first as AIMers, and then as Associate Missionaries. During their two years in Vanuatu, both spent most of their time teaching at the GATS Bible school, writing exams and supplemental curriculum, and helping with the school administration. They also preached at local churches across the main island, taught various ministry training seminars, and helped implement a new discipleship program across all the churches on the main island. At the end of their two years of service, the regional director asked the Lugos to change fields to New Zealand to help with the Bible school and plant churches on the south island.

The Lugos were appointed Intermediate Missionaries to New Zealand in February 2025. Their target city is Dunedin, a university town and the second largest urban area on the South Island. Currently, there are only two churches on the South Island of one million plus people, and the Lugo’s are excited about planting a new church in this strategic city, a return to pastoring, and continued involvement in Bible school training the next generation of church leaders.

Please select the dates you wish to host Missionary Desi and Rachel Lugo:

The Brainos family received their missionary appointment in 2004. During their first term, they served in the headquarters church, taught at the Bible school, and were furlough replacements for the Brochu family. For the last two terms, they have been opening new works in the southeast region of France. In addition, they continue to serve in the national Bible School, teach Sunday school, and are involved in ministerial training. They look forward to expanding their roles in teaching and training leaders for the growth and development of the French-speaking church. Their field changed to Regional Teacher to Africa in February 2025.

  • Roger and Vicki Betterley

    Missionaries to Africa, Malawi

Roger and Vicki were married in 1989, and they have four grown children and seven grandchildren. They were saved and came into the church in 1991. Before missions, they served the Pennsylvania District for over twenty-five years in various district positions, most recently as presbyter for over ten years. They are the founding Pastors of Living Hope Church, which started as a Home Missions work in 1998 and now has three locations.

As Presbyter, they launched several churches in their district over their tenure, and as Pastors, they have had the privilege of raising up several licensed ministers. The Betterleys have visited Malawi eight times over the last fourteen years and have felt a burden for the country since their first visit. They have always felt that Malawi was in their future, but were not sure when and how it would happen. Several years ago, they knew God was bringing change to their ministry. In a series of miraculous events, God confirmed His plan while they were attending the Malawi General Conference in August of 2023. They were on-site as Associates in Missions by February 2024.

The Betterleys have served as evangelists, preaching in a different church each Sunday, seeing many receive the Holy Ghost and numerous testimonies of miracles. They have also preached at many District Conferences and have taught at leadership seminars, prayer summits, ladies conferences, and children’s revivals. They are currently holding a weekly home Bible study group that has grown to twenty-five people over the last year. Additionally, they have taught at the Bible school and maintained its property while also overseeing several church building projects.

In March of 2025, they were fully appointed as Intermediate Missionaries to Malawi, where they look forward to working alongside the National Church of Malawi. While Malawi has already seen revival through the hard work of many missionaries, they believe it is positioned to be the first African nation with one million members in the United Pentecostal Church. Their priorities upon returning are to evangelize the under-churched far north, to have the Bible school running full time, to continue to assist the many churches that do not have church buildings, and to institute a mentorship program on a district and local church level to raise up young ministers. Great things are in store for Malawi!

  • Joseph and Cassandra Landaw

Missionaries to Central America / Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Trinidad/Tobago

Joseph and Cassandra Landaw were initially appointed to serve in the islands of Trinidad and Tobago after working there as AIMers for two years. Following their deputation in 2015, they started their first term but were unable to enter Trinidad due to the ban on missionary visas. Instead, the Landaws went to Puerto Rico and worked in the San Juan metro area, where they taught at a Bible school and assisted with a new church.

They then relocated to the island’s southern side in 2017 to help in the least evangelized areas. During this time, they continued teaching at the Bible schools across the island and provided oversight to the churches in the South/West. Sister Cassandra has been instrumental in every aspect of the work, particularly in the music and Sunday school departments, driving everything towards excellence. When Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, the Landaws helped distribute humanitarian aid to those in need. Upon their return from deputation in 2021, the Landaws planted a bilingual church in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and are currently leading the work on that side of the island.

Before missions, they served in several different areas in their local church, including children’s ministry, guest services, sign language, choir, and media. They oversaw a thriving bus ministry, Sunday school class, and children’s church.

In 2019 they felt the call of God for the foreign mission field but were unsure where that would take them. After several years of seeking, waiting, and preparing, God spoke and directed them to the nation of Bangladesh. They departed on a six-month AIM program in September of 2021. They preached in local churches, taught classes in the Bible college and English as a second language, and intently studied the Bangla language. They returned a second time in August of 2022 for ten months and again for a third time in October of 2023 for another ten months.

In addition, Morgan helped start a new Sunday school work in the capital city and has assisted with Ladies Ministries and the Bangladesh Network of Prayer. In October of 2024, they were fully appointed as

Intermediate Missionaries to Bangladesh, where they look forward to continuing to work alongside fellow missionaries and nationals. • Steve and Danita Drost

Missionaries to Central America / Caribbean, Mexico

Steven, son of T. Wynn and Wanda Drost, and Danita, daughter of Ron and Joy Hanscom, were both raised on the mission field. It was a natural decision to continue on with this calling when they met and married in Bible college. Two weeks after marrying, they drove to Mexico to begin their time on the Associates In Missions program. They founded a work in Mexico City, and many other daughter works were started from that church. Steven became the National Youth Director in addition to holding positions on the District Board. Their family increased by two, Rachel Joy (1992) and Sarah Faye (1994). Knowing this was a lifetime commitment, they applied for Career Missionary appointment in October 1997. After completing deputation, they returned to Mexico and settled on the northern border in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Steven became the District Superintendent of the Tamaulipas district. Also at that time, the national assembly voted him in as National Secretary of the United Pentecostal Church of Mexico. Danita served as the national Sunday School Director. Tamaulipas grew and is now one of the strongest districts in the United Pentecostal Church of Mexico. Their family also increased by one in 2003 when Caleb Wynn was born on his daddy’s birthday.

After completing their third deputation, they moved their family to Guadalajara in November 2010. Steven was elected the Superintendent of the Oeste district (Jalisco and Colima) as well as the Pacifico district (Nayarit).
