Creative Greensboro + Weatherspoon Art Museum are partnering to host a three-site art crawl showcasing community-based projects in Greensboro in connection with the William H. Johnson "Fighters for Freedom" exhibit.
Join Neighborhood Arts artists on Saturday, October 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at public art sites in the Kings Forest, Glenwood and Random Woods communities.
Art crawl and bus ride are free and open to the public.
Art Crawl Schedule
Bus leaves from the Weatherspoon Museum promptly at 9:30 AM
10 - 11 a.m. - Learn about the art at Kings Forest Park, including the community icons sidewalk murals. Hosted by Neighborhood Arts artist Sunny Gravely-Foushee, director of TAB Arts Non-Profit.
11:30 a.m -12:30 p.m. - Celebrate Greensboro's Indigeneous/Native history at a crosswalk mural in Glenwood at the intersection of Haywood and Neal. Hosted by Neighborhood Arts Artist Tamra Hunt, a member of the Lumbee tribe and lead artist for the mural.
BREAK - Bus returns to Weatherspoon Museum. Visit the free "Fighters for Freedom: William H Johnson: Picturing Justice" exhibit. Enjoy lunch on your own at nearby restaurants.
Bus leaves the Weatherspoon Museum at 4:00 p.m.
4:30 - 6 p.m. - Enjoy dance, music and community painting atop the basketball court mural at Random Woods Park. Hosted by Neighborhood Arts artist Emilio Marz.
Bus leaves Random Woods Park promptly at 6 p.m. and returns to the Weatherspoon Museum
This art crawl is a special tour with support from Art Bridges, the Weatherspoon Museum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Neighborhood Arts sites are free to visit and open to the public every day.
