Program Overview

The Step Up Competition invites middle and high school students across Loudoun County to create real solutions for real community challenges. Teams identify an issue in their school, neighborhood, or broader community, design a plan to address it, and put that plan into action—all while building leadership, problem-solving, and presentation skills. Participation Requirements: Team Registration Fee: Each team member agrees to pay $25 USD at the time of registration. Scholarships Available: Loudoun Youth is committed to inclusion. Financial assistance is available to any student who requests it; no one will be turned away for inability to pay. Video Submission: Applicants must submit a short video outlining their project idea. Workshops: At least one virtual Brainstorming Session and one virtual Orientation Session are required for every team. Key 2026 Dates: Registration Period: Opens October 1, 2025, and closes January 15, 2026. Top 20 Presentations: March 25, 2026, at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administration Building, Ashburn, VA Finals & Awards Ceremony: April 4, 2026, at the Morven Park Barn, Leesburg, VA
