  •  Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Margaret Hendry School learning community. We are   excited to have the opportunity to welcome you and your child/children into our school community as their "adventures in learning" with the ACT education system.

As a commnuity, we are diverse in nature. We come from varying cultural and liguistic backgrounds. United, our backgrounds and experiences provide rich and meaningful opportunities for all children to have 'windows' into other's cultures and ways of being, along with 'mirrors' of their own individual culture and ways of being.

We would like to acknowledge the Ngunnawal people, past, presence, and emerging. We wish to thank the Ngunnawal people for the land on which we learn, work, live and play. We are very lucky to be able to share this and to care for this land as the Ngunnawal people have done for 60,000 years. We will always respect that under the concrete and asphalt this Is, Was and Will Always Be traditional lands of the Ngunnawal people. At MHS we show love for this special land in so many ways and care for the land for the generations moving forward. we have so much to learn from the traditional custodians of this land, the Ngunnawal people.

    - Millie and Charlotte on behalf the Margaret Hendry School Community 2021

We look forward to working together as partners to achieve the best social, emotional, academic, physical outcomes for your child through a personalised approach.

  • Third Party Providers

Margaret Hendry School is committed to providing a technology rich environment for our children as our community believes the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is fundamental in assisting teaching and learning in all areas of the school curriculum.

The use of web-based learning resources and cloud-based storage has risen steadily over the last decade and are increasingly being used by teachers across the Education Directorate to improve student learning outcomes.

Teachers make decisions designed to assist children in their learning. Sometimes it is beneficial for the child to utilise services provided by third party web-based providers.  Types of services provided by these service providers include online content creation, collaborative tools, online educational games and various administrative programs for tracking children’s assessment data.

As our school wishes to register with a number of web-based service providers that require some personal information, I am obliged under the Information Privacy Act 2014 to advise you of the reasons for collecting the information, what will be done with it, the consequence of not collecting it and who else may have access to it.

If you fill in this form, Margaret Hendry School will use the information provided to observe your wishes in respect of enabling your child’s access. These sites have been identified as being a useful component in the teaching programs and administration at Margaret Hendry School. To assist you in deciding whether to give consent, the sites identified are listed below/overleaf with the description of the type of service/program together with the website address and a link to the provider’s privacy policy and terms and conditions of use. You are not required to consent – this is a matter entirely at your discretion.

If you do not consent to supply us with this information your family will not use these sites.

Normally we will not use or disclose this information for another purpose, without your consent, unless you reasonably expect us to use or disclose the information for a related purpose.

The Education Directorate has a privacy policy that explains how we handle personal information, including how we handle privacy complaints. The policy is available on the Education Directorate’s website, www.education.act.gov.au, on the Publications and Policies page.
