Duchamp & Sons is a collective of young people from across East London who collaborate on creative projects with artists. They experiment with art, share space for food and conversation, and create exhibitions, events, and new artworks as a collective. You can read more about past projects here.
Once you join Duchamp & Sons you can remain part of the group for several years, as long as you can commit to attending regularly.
Who is it for?
- No previous art experience necessary — we’re just looking for people interested in art and collaborating with others on projects.
- You need to be aged 15-24. We prioritise offering places to those aged 15-19 so that they can be part of the group for several years.
- You must be London based and we’re particularly keen to hear from those from East London.
What does being part of D&S involve?
- Attending regular Duchamp & Sons sessions which take place 2-3 times per month on Wednesdays, 5pm-7pm.
- Collaborating with peers, artists and other creative practitioners to develop projects.
- Meeting other young people and making new friends.
- Gaining new skills and learning about creative careers through making art, curating exhibitions, and producing events and other projects.
- Taking part in gallery and studio visits across London
What support is available for participants?
- Duchamp & Sons is free
- Travel bursaries are available for those who need them
- D&S is a diverse community and an inclusive space. We welcome discussions with participants about access requirements.
Please note that there are a limited number of spaces available in the collective each year, and so we are unlikely to be able to offer everyone who applies a place in Duchamp & Sons. In this instance we will prioritise those aged 15-19, based in East London (in particular those from Tower Hamlets), from backgrounds underrepresented in the arts, and with least prior access to similar opportunities.
