The Drew Match is an annual postal international smallbore prone rifle competition organised by the NSRA for junior athletes. An athlete’s junior status is determined in accordance with ISSF rules. The Match was first contested in 2002. Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand, South Africa, and the USA have, at some point, competed for the William Drew Cup.
The course of fire is an English Match (60 shots at 50 metres) shot on NSRA/ISSF approved targets. Integer scoring is used. Shooting positions and equipment must comply with ISSF rules for 50m Prone Rifle.
There are three competitions associated with the Drew: a Junior Team of 10, a Team of Three Junior Men, and a Team of Three Junior Women. Each of these teams may have up to two reserves, a captain, an adjutant, and a coach.
The team may either shoot the Match together on the same range on the same day or, within a one-week shooting period, each athlete on the team may separately shoot their 60 shots in the presence of a witness on any suitable range. The team may be coached.
Only athletes aged 21 or under on 31 December 2026 who are British citizens are eligible to qualify.
The 2026 Great Britain Drew Team will be selected from a postal trial:
- The 2026 Great Britain Drew Team will be selected from a postal trial:
The course of fire is 60 shots at 50 metres and is to be shot on NSRA/ISSF approved targets. The last day of shooting is Monday, 22 June 2026. The full competition conditions will be distributed to all entrants.
- The 10 leading available competitors from the postal trial will form the Junior Team of 10, with positions 11 and 12 being the two reserves. The leading three available junior men from the postal trial will form the Team of Three Junior Men, with positions 4 and 5 being the reserves. The leading three available junior women from the postal trial will form the Team of Three Junior Women, with positions 4 and 5 being the reserves.
- At the discretion of the Great Britain Drew Team Captain, wildcards may be selected to shoot. Up to two wildcards are permitted for the Junior Team of 10, and each team of three may only have one wildcard athlete. Where wildcards are selected, the number of places available to athletes from the postal trial will be reduced accordingly. The Team Captain may select additional wildcards for any of the teams if there are insufficient athletes available from the postal trial.
Match Period:
The Great Britain Team will shoot the Match within a one-week shooting period in September; athletes are to shoot their cards on their home range (or any other suitable range) in the presence of a qualifying witness. All reserves will be shooting reserves.
