Eligibility
- Open to artists 18 years or older.
- Must reside in the Walla Walla Valley, as defined by City purchasing policy (Walla Walla County, Dayton, and Milton-Freewater).
Artwork Requirements
- Open to all media: oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, prints, drawings, mixed media, photography, and digital art.
- Maximum of three (3) pieces per artist.
- Artwork must weigh no more than 50 pounds and be able to hang from a cable on a picture rail.
- Works will remain on display in the City Council Chambers for one year.
- Space is limited; the Council Chambers is open for artists to preview.
Submission Details
- No application fee.
- No commission collected; artists will not be compensated for display.
- Artists may provide pricing and contact information for interested buyers.
Selection Process
A jury of 3-4 members will review submissions. This may include:
- 1 community member
- 1 previously showcased artist
- 1 member of the Arts Commission
- 1 member of ArtWalla
Artists may expect the following approximate timeline for submissions, review, and installation:
- Submissions open on September 19, 2025;
- Submissions close on November 24, 2025;
- Jury review will happen in December 2025;
- Selected art will be presented Arts Commission at the January 7, 2026, meeting;
- Artists will be notified of the recommendations the second week of January 2026;
- Commission recommendation will be presented to the City Council January 28, 2026;
- Installation slated to begin in February 2026;
- Reception will be announced after the installation is complete.
NOTE: While the City of Walla Walla Arts Commission supports a wide range of expressive creativity, the Council Chambers is an open, public space and is designed as a family-friendly venue. Please keep in mind that work deemed inappropriate for viewing by young children by the Arts Commission may not be included.
