    WHAT are the Mayor's Neighborhood Awards?

    The Neighborhood Awards is a celebration highlighting neighbors who work together to make their neighborhoods sustainable, healthy, and engaged. The Awards will recognize existing projects, associations, and improvements and aims to encourage further progress in our community.

    WHO can participate?

    Any neighborhood association or business district association registered with the City of St. Petersburg is eligible to be recognized. Submitted projects and registration must have been completed or occured in 2025 for eligibility.

    WHEN is the Award Period?

    Neighborhood leaders, residents, and city employees can submit positive projects and efforts dating from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 to highlight for this event. All projects must be initiated during that timeframe. Physical projects and activities begun prior to January 1, 2025 are not eligible.

    Please use this form to submit nominations for the following Neighborhood Awards:

    Neighbor with Heart

    This recognition celebrates the incredible work of an individual(s) in the association who went "above and beyond" to care for their surrounding neighbors and communities. Neighborhood leaders are not eligible for this recognition.

     

    Neighborhood of Compassion

    This award celebrates a neighborhood that has made a meaningful difference in enhancing quality of life through positive well-being initiatives that foster connection and belonging among residents. 

     

    Neighborhood Spirit

    Celebrates a neighborhood that makes residents feel engaged by focusing on highlighting the social and cultural aspects of their neighborhood. The award is given to the neighborhood that exhibits the best spirit of neighborliness throughout activities that promote working, playing, or celebrating together in a responsible and safe way. 

     

    Neighborhood Pride

    Awarded to the neighborhood with a successful physical beautification or revitalization effort.  The award recognizes a neighborhood that improves their physical area including, but not limited to parks, housing, lighting, traffic control, cleanups, or other improvement projects.

     

    Neighborhood Civic Engagement & Community Collaborations

    Honors a significant partnership and creative civic engagement initiative by a neighborhood or alliance to define a challenge, speak out, organize fellow neighbors, and work with their city, elected officials and/or other key stakeholders (schools, businesses, other neighborhood associations and/or organizations) to find solutions that bring about positive change in their neighborhood and/or the city as a whole.

     

    Neighborhood Association President of the Year

    Any person (no self-nominations) or organization can nominate an association president for outstanding leadership and/or accomplishments during his/her/their tenure. Nominee must have served in 2025 or be currently in office.

     

    Neighborhood Association of the Year

    Any person or organization can nominate an association and give reasons as to why it should be considered the best of the year. Community engagement, neighborhood health, events, socials, and meetings will all be considered in selection.

     

    Neighborhood Communications

    Recognizing all with communications, no voting.

    Acknowledges excellence in communicating news about neighborhood events and issues, as well as developing interest and involvement in neighborhoods. Outlets to consider will include neighborhood newsletters, neighborhood websites, social media presence (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Nextdoor), and other means of communication.

     

    Healthy Neighborhood

    Healthy St. Pete staff recognizing all with Healthy Neighborhood programming, no voting.

    Healthy St. Pete will recognize neighborhoods for their efforts in contributing to helping to make the healthy choice the easy choice in St. Petersburg. Recognition will be given to all neighborhoods that have initiated wellness walks, become Little Sunshine Pantry partners, participated in Healthy St. Pete Get Fit St. Pete fitness classes or community health classes, and other efforts to increase health and wellness in their local communities.

     

    A Sunshine Spotlight

    Recognizing Volunteer Organizational partnerships, no voting.

    This spotlight award celebrates groups or individuals that have created volunteer organizational partnerships with City registered Neighborhood Associations to organize volunteer efforts and help St. Pete shine bright!

     

    Nominations will close on Monday, November 10 at 9:00 am.
