  • PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 

    Atlas Arts Lab 2026 Individual Fellowships

    The Atlas Arts Lab offers a 15-week residency:

    2026 Residency: March 2026 through June 2026


    Program Provisions

    Rehearsal Space:

    • Up to 9 hours of rehearsal time per week (valued at $10,000).
    • Generally scheduled in 3-hour blocks throughout the week.


    Culminating Final Performance:

    • Participating artists must be part of a culminating performance in June.
    • The final performance is valued at up to $5,000, including space and technical support.
    • Performances should be 60 minutes long.
    • The scope of the culminating performance can vary from a studio showing/staged reading to a performance with full technical elements (within Atlas capabilities).
    • The projected scope should be proposed in the application and finalized during the final interview with Atlas programming staff.


    Community Engagement Event:

    • Propose and create one event during the program term outside of the Atlas, designed as Audience Processing, Audience Participation, or Community Connection.


    Stipend and Box Office:

    • Fellows receive a $1,500 performance stipend.
    • Fellows also receive 50% of the Box Office proceeds from the culminating performance (less any credit card or processing fees). The scope of the culminating performance can vary from a studio showing/staged reading to a performance with full technical elements (within Atlas capabilities). No performance will be ticketed for more than $25 per ticket and should run 60 minutes in length.
       

    Program Expectations:

    Fellows are expected to thrive in a culture of collaboration and community.
    Participation in the culminating final performance and community engagement events is required.

  • PROGRAM AGREEMENTS

    THE ATLAS ARTS LAB AGREES TO:

    • Rehearsal Space: Up to 9 hours per week for free (specific days, dates, and times TBD).
    • Production Support: Available as needed for individual fellows for all scheduled performances (some restrictions may apply).
    • Guidance and Oversight: To ensure all individual fellows achieve their goals.
    • Stipend: $1500 paid over the term of the program and 50% of the final performance box office revenue.
    • Culminating Performance Support:
      • Covers the cost of performance space and standard venue inventory.
      • Provides one tech rehearsal (length varies).
    • Provides production support including a light board operator, sound board operator, stage manager, venue manager, house management, box office, and marketing.
    • Video Archive: One camera archive video of the culminating performance.
    • Fellow Check-ins: Opportunities to exchange ideas and discuss processes with other Atlas Arts Lab fellows.
    • Staff Interaction: Opportunities to meet and talk with Atlas staff on finance, administration, fundraising, marketing, programming, operations, and production topics.
    • Storage: No storage space is available at the Atlas. No large set pieces may be built for the culminating performance. Any props of scenic elements required can be stored on site during the final tech week.


    INDIVIDUAL FELLOWS AGREE TO:

    • Rehearsal Participation: Utilize scheduled rehearsal time for creating new work.
    • Expense Coverage: Cover all “in the door” expenses (performer fees and production costs separate from those provided by Atlas). This will include all collaborators including performers, directors, lighting/video/sound designers, artistic support, etc. as determined or needed by the artist.
    • Marketing and Promotion: Market and promote their performance(s) in cooperation with the Atlas Marketing team and collaborate as necessary with the Atlas and the artist community in the program.
    • Surveys and Questionnaires: Complete as requested.
    • Additional Requirements:
      • Community Engagement Event: Propose and create one event during the program term outside of the Atlas, designed as Audience Processing, Audience Participation, or Community Connection (specific details TBD).
      • Exclusive Performance Rights: Do not perform or provide access to the new work outside of any Atlas-sanctioned initiative or promotion without discussion with the Atlas.

    Artisit must commit to all of the dates listed to be part of the program.
