Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Managing Groundskeeper to oversee the upkeep, maintenance, and daily readiness of our multi-sport fields and facilities. This position is hands-on and requires excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and with volunteers or part-time staff.
The Managing Groundskeeper will ensure that fields, courts, restrooms, and common areas are safe, clean, and ready for play.
Key Responsibilities
Field Preparation & Maintenance
Drag, chalk, and line baseball, softball, and tee-ball fields.
Set up and take down field equipment for lacrosse, football, field hockey, and volleyball as needed.
Monitor turf, dirt, and grass areas for wear and tear; coordinate with vendors for seeding, mowing, and fertilization schedules.
Facility Upkeep
Inspect and maintain restrooms, storage areas, and parking lots.
Perform basic repairs (e.g., nets, goals, fences, benches, lights, trash receptacles).
Ensure all equipment is stored safely and securely.
Safety & Compliance
Conduct regular safety checks of fields, bleachers, and facilities.
Report hazards or maintenance needs to leadership immediately.
Ensure compliance with organizational standards for cleanliness and safety.
Team Leadership
Work with volunteers and seasonal staff to complete maintenance projects.
Communicate field conditions and closures to organizational staff.
Operational Support
Support special events, tournaments, and game days with field setup and breakdown.
Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, and request replenishments as needed.
Qualifications
Previous experience in groundskeeping, facility maintenance, or a similar role preferred.
Knowledge of field lining, turf care, and basic facility upkeep.
Ability to operate small equipment (tractors, mowers, lining machines) safely.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Familiarity with Google products (gmail, calendar, drive, docs, etc) a plus.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Valid driver’s license preferred.
Schedule & Pay
Hours: Full time (Spring/Summer/Fall)/Part time (Winter), hourly; schedule includes evenings and weekends based on league and event needs.
Start Date: Immediate
Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
