Port Washington Youth Activities, Inc (PYA) is seeking dependable and hardworking Field Crew Members to join our operations team. This hands-on position is responsible for preparing and maintaining fields, courts, and facilities to ensure they are safe and ready for practices, games, and tournaments.
This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and contributing to a positive experience for youth athletes and families.
Key Responsibilities
Field Preparation & Setup
Drag, chalk, and line baseball, softball, and tee-ball fields.
Set up and remove goals, nets, and other equipment for football, lacrosse, field hockey, and volleyball.
Assist with game-day preparations and post-event breakdown.
Maintenance & Cleanliness
Help maintain turf, dirt, and grass areas (raking, watering, filling holes, etc.).
Empty trash bins, pick up litter, and keep restrooms and common areas clean.
Perform light facility upkeep such as replacing nets, tightening bolts, or painting lines.
Safety & Reporting
Inspect fields and facilities for hazards and report issues to the Managing Groundskeeper.
Follow all safety guidelines and equipment operation procedures.
Support & Teamwork
Work collaboratively with other crew members, volunteers, and supervisors.
Assist with special events, tournaments, and maintenance projects as needed.
Qualifications
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
Basic knowledge of field sports setup preferred (training available).
Ability to safely operate small equipment and tools (training provided).
Must pass a criminal background check.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Schedule & Pay
Hours: Part-time, hourly; schedule may include some evenings and weekends based on field and event schedules.
Season: March – December (some hours may be available for off-season)
Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
