Purpose
Chartered in September 2021, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.(NCBW) Greater Seattle Chapter serves to advocate on behalf of Black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment. As a newly chartered chapter, we are committed to being a united voice and helping elevate the quality of life for young Black Women and other Black women in the Pacific Northwest.
The NCBW Greater Seattle Chapter is pleased to offer students from high schools in the greater Seattle area (this includes King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston counties) an opportunity to apply for a Scholarship to aid in funding their personal investment in higher education. This merit based scholarship is for female high school seniors who meet the academic requirements and have demonstrated financial aid need.
Eligibility Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for this scholarship:
- Be a woman from the Black Diaspora
- Be a high school senior graduating within the 2025-2026 school year from a high school in one of the following counties: King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, and Thurston
- Have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application
- Have been accepted into an accredited institution of higher learning: a two to four-year college or university or a technical/vocational school at the time of application.
- Proof of acceptance must be submitted with the scholarship application.
- Proof of enrollment is required if selected for the scholarship award.
Selection Criteria:
- The Scholarship Committee will take into consideration the following when selecting scholarship recipients:
- Completeness of application packet (incomplete applications will not be considered)
- A minimum of 40 hours of community involvement
- Strength of Personal Statement
- Statement of financial need
- Student has demonstrated leadership abilities in the community, workplace, and school
Two Letters of Recommendation:
- One letter must be written by school personnel
- One from a member of the community that is not a family member

Scholarship Awards Awards in the amount of $1,000.00 will be announced by April 15, 2026, and dispersed upon verification of college/university enrollment for the Fall 2026 term
