KATA (Forms)
Competitors perform kata simultaneously. White to Green belts and all 7yrs and under can perform the same kata, all other levels must alternate Kata each round ie Kata A/Kata B/Kata A.
SHOULDER/KNEE TAG
Each competitor has a helmet. The aim is scoring points by tagging the knee or the shoulder of the opponent with control without causing injury. The match is 1:30 minutes and is scored first to 3 points (first point receives advantage if match is drawn). Competitors can be penalised and/or disqualified for running out of the area and making excessive contact.
GLADIATOR CLASH
Each competitor has a shield and a helmet. The aim is to force the opponent outside of the marked area. The match is 1:30 minutes and is scored first to 3 outings or the one with the most points (first point receives advantage if match is drawn). Competitors must use shields to push and can be penalised and/or disqualified for falling repeatedly on the floor.
KUMITE (Sparring)
Each competitor must have all protective gear including mouth guard, boys must have groin guard, helmets and body protectors will be provided. The aim is to score points, 1 point for punches, 2 points for a body kick and 3 points for a head kick or take down with a well-timed strike. All scoring techniques must be controlled, accurate and technically correct. The match concludes when a competitor is 8 points ahead or the time is up, matches are 1:30 minutes for 13years and under and 2 minutes for 14-18years. Competitors can be penalised and/or disqualified for repeatedly exiting the competition area, making excessive contact and/or poor sporting behaviour.
