Greetings!
I am Endy, and I will be (potentially) your game master in one the upcoming games.
A few words about me:
I am over 30, and I have been playing and game mastering tabletop RPGs for over 15 years. My English, especially pronunciation, is not perfect, but I use it daily, including at work, so we will be fine.
Before we start, here is what you can expect from me and the game, and what you cannot. Most of these come from past conflicts at my table.
These terms and conditions applies for all games I will be running, regardless of the system or setting:
This is NOT an LGBTQ+ friendly game ❌⛔
If that is a problem, please stop here.
Mature content and safety ✅🔞
The game will include gore, violence, sexuality, and other adult themes, you should expect heavy material, but if something crosses a line, tell me or your Buddy. If that is a problem, stop here. What a cruel world.
Players must be 18+
Sexual interactions will never be forced on PCs.
Swearing is allowed, if not expected.
We will use Lines & Veils, and as another layer of safety, the Buddy System (optional, not enforced).
As a feedback tool, we will use Stars & Wishes.
The Crew ⚠️
I usually run with 3 to 4 players.
What I'm also considering (in some of the games) is to run it with more players, in a bit of a Westmarches style, when at least 3 of you are available, we can schedule a session, but all of you will part of the same crew/team/group.
The not-paid formula ⚠️
I have never GMed for money, and I never will. A tabletop RPG is about mutual fun, not a transaction. Joining or playing will never cost you anything, except respect and participation.
Language ⚠️
The game will be in English. Perfect fluency is not required.
Beginner-friendly ⚠️
New to TTRPG, Blades or Forged in the Dark games? No problem. As long as we pass the vibe check, you are good. You don't have to read trough all the books, a playerkit will be provided, the rules will be taught.
Playing online ⚠️
We will use Foundry Virtual Tabletop for play and Discord voice for comms.
Webcam is optional, never required. Have a decent setup: working mic, no constant dogs, kids, or vacuums, noise suppression if needed. Accidents happen, I get it. What I do not want is constant background noise or a garbage mic.
Play times ⚠️
Each session will be between a minimum of 3 hours to a maximum of 6 hours, but usually around 4 to 5 hours.
The possible timeframes are (in CEST time zone):
- Between 17:00 to 23:00 on Monday to Friday.
- Between 12:00 (somewhat flexible) to 00:00 on Saturday.
- Between 12:00 (somewhat flexible) to 00:00 on Sunday.
Usually, except when shit hits the fan. We can do even longer sessions if everyone is in.
If none of these timeframes is good for you, we will not be able to find a date and time for playing together.
Tone, story, coop and PvP⚠️
Almost always, it's a (grim-)dark and gritty game with custom overarching story (no prewritten modules, unless we agree on it beforehand), but mostly sandbox, You'll rarely get railroaded into one direction, unless a few specific cases.
This will be a cooperative game, Player versus Player interactions are forbidden. Of course, this does not mean that there can be no disagreements or that everyone must always agree, but there is no place for deliberate actions against one another. You are a team, you need to work together to rise, and you will certainly have enough enemies to keep you from turning against each other.
Theatre of mind (mostly)⚠️
Besides having the character sheets, and some images and maps in Foundry, we're not going to use battle-maps or anything alike most of the time. The majority of the action will happen in the theatre of mind.
Goofy content ❌⛔
I am not against fun, but leave the joke names and meme backstories out. I put effort into this game and expect the same. We do not have to be grim all the time, just do not turn the campaign into a clown show.
Seriousness ✅⚠️
I expect a basic level of seriousness: show up when you say you will, and if you are going to be late or absent, let the group know. Life happens, and that is fine, but respect goes a long way. What you do with substances is your own business, as long as it does not ruin the game for others.
Session zero ⚠️
We most likely fuse the first session with session zero, beginning with character creation, setting and rules overview, talking about safety tools and feedback tools.
I usually create the characters (and/or crew or team if applicable like in BITD) before the session with each of players. Most of the rules will be taught on-the-fly as we encounter them.
AI Content (Image and Text generation) ⚠️✅
I'm not against AI content, but please follow these basic guidelines:
- Images should look "normal", no 6 fingers, 3 arms, mutated face, no LGBTQ+, anything else is ok
- Text generation (like ChatGPT) can be used for backstories or such as long as it's not a complete copy-paste. Take at least some effort to write over the ideas, I wouldn't ask for a 3 page backstory (unless you want it by yourself)
What I bring to the table:
- 15 years of GM experience, including a year-long Blades in the Dark campaign that ended with Duskwall plunged into irreversible chaos (the crew didn’t stop a cult from unleashing an old god).
- Experience with other Forged in the Dark games: Band of Blades, Scum and Villainy, CBR+PNK, and Bloodstone.
- Experience with John Harper’s other systems (AGON and Deathmatch Island, both PARAGON-based).
- Experience with many other systems: the BORGS (MÖRK BORG, PIRATE BORG, VAST GRIMM, CY_BORG), Year Zero Engine (Coriolis, Forbidden Lands, Mutant Year Zero, Alien, Vaesen), Ironsworn (both Starforged and classic), Index Card RPG, FATE (all versions), and D&D (AD&D through 5e).
- A flawlessly hosted, legitimate Foundry VTT setup (self-hosted; IP changes per session). All you need is a web browser.
- Legitimate PDFs (Blades in the Dark, Deep Cuts, plus others) and physical books (Blades, Band of Blades, Scum and Villainy, AGON, Deathmatch Island, and a lot more) to show my dedication.
Blades in the Dark specific:
- A gritty, immersive representation of Duskwall, using a massive 12062×16067 high-resolution map made by Old Dog Games in coordination with John Harper, complete with street names.
- We will be using the Deep Cuts expansion.
If you have read this far and still want to play, great. Please continue by filling out the form.
