    Compensation:
This is a contractor position with an hourly rate of $25-27 per hour (based on experience).

    Important Note:
This is a contractor position, not an employee role. As a contractor, you will be responsible for your own taxes, benefits, and insurance. The compensation provided will not include standard employee benefits such as vacation pay, health insurance, or other entitlements typically offered to employees.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist the lead teacher (that’s me-Simona:)) in delivering fun and engaging nature-based activities. I’ll do the heavy lifting when it comes to planning, but your input is welcome to make the experience even better.
    • Help guide children through Indigenous teachings—be open to learning more about Indigenous culture and wisdom.
    • Keep an eye on the kids as they explore the wonders of Mossom Creek, ensuring they don’t mistake a bear snack for their lunch.
    • Encourage curiosity while keeping everyone safe and excited to learn about salmon, forests, and local wildlife.
    • Be ready to step in when a bear makes a surprise appearance or a curious raccoon wants to join the group.
    • Rain or shine, cold or warm, you’ll be outside with us—so pack your best gear (no bad weather, just bad clothing choices!).

    Requirements:

    • A genuine passion for working with kids in an outdoor environment—and a willingness to get your boots muddy!
    • Interest in Indigenous teachings and a desire to incorporate them into the children’s learning.
    • Familiarity with wildlife situations
    • Comfort with all kinds of weather—whether it’s drizzling rain or a bit chilly, you’ll need to keep smiling and warm (a good jacket and boots are your best friends).
    • First Aid/CPR certification because you never know when someone might trip over a root while chasing a butterfly.
    • A good sense of humor—you’ll need it when the kids ask you why trees can’t walk or decide to name every salmon in the stream.
