  • Dear Guidance Counselor/Parent or Guardian/Student:

    The Winston-Salem Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a sisterhood of more than 250,000 predominately African-American, college educated women. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization's Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

    • Economic Development
    • Educational Development
    • International Awareness and Involvement
    • Physical and Mental Health
    • Political Awareness and Involvement

    We are happy to announce that we are awarding several scholarship(s) to deserving high school graduates. To be eligible, the applicant must:

    • Identify as a female
    • Identify as a racial or ethnic minority
    • Be a high-school senior
    • Be a Forsyth County resident and attend any high school in the county
    • Have been accepted to a 4-year college or university
    • Have at least a 3.0 unweighted cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale

    First generation students and applicants to historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) are encouraged to apply.  Scholarships will be awarded based upon:

    • Academic excellence
    • Service
    • Strength of essay
    • Personal interview
    • Strength of application
  • Application: In order to be considered, all applications must include the following documents:

    • Official transcript-signed by school administrator and stamped with a school seal
    • Two (2) letters of recommendation
    • Essay- Respond to each question thoroughly
    • College/University acceptance letter - If not available by submission deadline, submit as soon as received so that the application can be reviewed.

    The applicant will provide evidence of these qualities through submission of a completed application, relevant documents, and ultimately a personal interview. Scholarships will be disbursed directly to the winning applicant to support her associated educational expenses. The applicant must return funds to the Chapter in the event that she does not attend a college or university.

    ** Dependents of members of the Winston-Salem Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., are not eligible to apply for or receive these scholarships.**.

    The completed application must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2026.  Please ensure ALL contact information is legible and accurate.

  • The applicant understands that receipt of this scholarship is contingent on the provision of proof of enrollment in a college or university. Funds will be sent directly to the winning applicant to support her associated educational expenses. Scholarship funds must be returned to the Winston-Salem Alumnae Chapter in the event she does not attend a college or university. The applicant further understands and agrees that she is responsible for any tax consequences or other scholarship adjustments related to receiving this award, including but not limited to loss of scholarship funds awarded by the institution and also those related in any way to National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) awarded funds. It is the applicant’s responsibility to determine how this scholarship might affect other awards she may receive.
