Programme Aims and Criteria
- The Grow Your Club programme supports sport and physical activity clubs in Wakefield District to increase their number of junior participants.
- Clubs must be affiliated to a National Governing Body (NGB) that is recognised by Sport England
- Each successful club will receive a £500 grant which must be used to run introductory sessions.
- The grant can go towards a coaching course for a new volunteer coach, new equipment and venue hire for the introductory sessions.
- These sessions must be for new participants that will feed into the youngest affiliated team or age group for the club’s respective sport/activity. E.g. In Football the youngest affiliated age group is U7s, therefore, the introductory sessions for a football club will be for 5–6-year-olds.
- Introductory sessions must run for at least 3 months.
- Clubs must charge a small fee for participants to attend the sessions to support ongoing running costs and sustainability.
- The aim of the programme is for these introductory sessions to run regularly so that clubs are adding new participants at their youngest age groups year on year.
