Purpose: Intercity Transit is committed to delivering accessible and efficient public transportation services to our community. The Van Grant Program seeks to award retired vehicles to qualifying organizations that will help address unmet public transportation needs for their members, clients or other users of their services within Intercity Transit's service area.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants are 501c3 nonprofit organizations and government agencies located within and serving residents of Intercity Transit's service area, which includes the cities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and Yelm. Provided trips must originate within this service area and remain within a 150-mile radius of the Intercity Transit Public Transportation Benefit Authority.
Process: The granting of these vehicles is achieved through a competitive review and selection process. Applications will be reviewed, scored by a panel. Vehicles will be awarded based on merit.
Grant vehicles: In 2026, four 12-passenger vans will be awarded as is:
- 2013 Ford Econoline E-350 with approximately 131k miles
- 2015 Chevy Express with approximately 116k miles
- 2015 Chevy Express with approximately 123k miles
- 2016 Chevy Express with approximately 129k miles
Successful candidates: Vehicles will be awarded based on merit, with the highest-scoring organization allowed to choose a vehicle first.
Timeline: To be considered, applications must be submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
