  • Register your schools interest in Learn about Livestock 2026! Learn about Livestock gives students the opportunity to experience farming first hand by looking after a ewe and her lamb(s) on your school grounds for a week, 16th - 20th March 2026.

“It was such an amazing week for the pupils and staff. Our children loved being able to get so close to the ewe and her lamb. This is particularly true of those in wheelchairs…they could not only see the sheep but really got to hold them and feel them” – Julie Hatfield, The Clare School, Norwich

"I loved it. The staff loved it. The parents loved it. And the children thought it was incredible!" - Hayley Pink, St. Martha's RC Primary School

All equipment needed to care for the ewe and lamb(s), including food for the week, will be supplied. Schools involved in the scheme will be given full support regarding risk assessments, 24-hour telephone support and expert veterinary assistance. Participating schools must have space for a 10ft x 15ft pen, preferably with at least some grass. This project is only open to Norfolk schools.

Participating schools will need to provide a £250 contribution and must name a nominated lead for the project. There is a mandatory briefing in February 2026 which the nominated lead must attend. Failure to do so will result in your school being unable to participate in Learn about Livestock.

Please note that this project can only go ahead subject to animal movement licensing rules which are set by DEFRA/APHA. There is a risk that this project may have to be cancelled or amended if there are changes to livestock movement regulations.

Head to our website to hear more about past projects.

This opportunity has limited availability, schools will be contacted by Friday 14th November with an outcome.

The deadline for applications is Friday 7th November at 17:00.
