NOTE: Applicants must be within 5 years of finishing training and have not previously presented at an SHM Annual Conference.
This fast-paced, spirited teaching competition will feature seven junior hospitalists sharing their best 8-minute presentations on a topic of their choosing. This novel platform will provide a new audience for emerging educators, build capacity and professional reputation, as well as enhance the educational impact of the Annual Conference. The winner of this competition will be guaranteed the opportunity to present a session at SHM Converge 2027 in Las Vegas, NV. In addition, we will provide all presenters with qualitative feedback after the competition from expert hospitalist educators, providing both improvement recommendations and networking opportunities.
Topics must be relevant to hospitalists but are otherwise unlimited. Presenters who wish to share visual content should utilize PowerPoint. Presentations should be creative, dynamic, and foster interaction with the audience.
Interested hospitalists must submit:
- 1-2 learning objectives that will be covered during the presentation
- A concise summary (250 words or less) about the topic, the rationale for choosing this topic, and why the presenter’s approach to teaching this topic is uniquely excellent.
All applications are due by no later than Monday, December 8.
