  • Treesilience Application

TreesLouisville is excited to launch the Treesilience Initiative in Louisville, KY! Treesilience is all about protecting and strengthening the tree canopy in historically under-canopied neighborhoods by planting new trees, removing diseased/dying trees, and providing maintenance care for mature trees that need some love. The best part? Thanks to our generous sponsors and donations, residents in Treesilience neighborhoods can participate at no cost. Together, we’re growing a healthier, greener Louisville — and building community under the canopy!

  • Answer the following questions about your tree(s) the best you can. Note 1: Treesilience does NOT remove trees for aesthetic reasons — only trees that are Dead, Dying, or Pose A Safety Risk as determined by a Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) Arborist are considered for removals.

Note 2: Arborists cannot perform a proper Tree Risk Assessment if they are unable to walk up to the tree and inspect its base and trunk. Thick ivy, dense vines, or heavy brush around the tree affect their ability to inspect. Trees unable to be properly inspected may be ineligible for Treesilience.

  • Can you walk up to the base of your tree and give it a hug without vines, ivy, or overgrown vegetation getting in the way?*
  • Is a tree on the property a Mature Tree that needs trimming or pruning? (A mature tree is at or above roof level)*
  • Is there a DISEASED, DYING, DEAD or UNSAFE tree on the property that requires removal? (Reference chart below as needed for examples — Check all that apply)*

  • Where is the tree(s) located? (Check all that apply)*
  • A Tree Risk Assessment Qualified Arborist must assess your tree(s) to determine if they are eligible for Treesilience Care. With this in mind, please answer the next question:

  • Do you give TreesLouisville permission to enter your yard(s) for the purpose of assessing the risk of your tree(s)?*
  • If a tree is approved for removal from your property through Treesilience, do you agree to allow 1-2 new trees to be planted on your property to replace it? (Species and location of new trees will be chosen with help from a tree expert)*
  • If new trees are planted on your property, will you commit to watering once per week during summer for the first 2 years?*
  • If new trees are planted on your property, will you commit to caring for the tree(s) as best you can and not cutting them down?*
  • If approved for Treesilience, would you be interested in (Check all that apply)*
