  • Who is eligible to apply?

    • Bank account in the section’s name
    • Compliance with prior grant reporting requirements
    • Required government filings maintained

    What is the purpose?
    The Section Grant Program is to provide meaningful support and grow local member engagement.

    How to apply?
    The online application is open until October 31. Notifications of grant awards will be sent by December 31. If approved, funds will be distributed in January. The maximum total request should not exceed $20 per section member.

    Grant funds will be awarded based on the financial status of the section and the direct impact to members, the industry, and section operations. All grant requests must be directly aligned with AACE’s strategic plan and our tax-exempt purpose: to promote through education and scientific means the science of cost engineering for the public.

    The section may request up to $20 per member total based on the number of section members as of September 1. Grant amounts applied for should be intended to be spent within the upcoming calendar year only.

  • Grant Budget

    Sections will need to set goals and budget for the 2026 year. Headquarters requires a detailed breakdown of planned expenditures.

    Acceptable grant expenditures

    • Annual filing fees for non-profit incorporation
    • PO Box fees
    • Event space/venue rental, which could include a restaurant for your board or section meetings
    • Food, beverage, or other related expenses for a section event (technical or outreach, including student outreach events)
    • Membership initiatives, such as bring a colleague to a section event
    • Student scholarships (paid directly to the school)
    • Student membership support (section pays headquarters directly on behalf of a new student member)
    • Email marketing platform fees

    Unacceptable grant expenditures

    • Gift cards for volunteer recognition
    • Cash raffle prizes
    • Scholarship programs to be paid to individuals
    • Directors & officers’ insurance
    • Reimbursement for past expenses, such as 2025 incorporation filings or attorney fees

  • Grant Compliance

    The purpose of this grant request aligns with AACE's mission and purpose. If awarded, grant funds will be spent on activities in accordance with our tax-exempt purpose: to promote through education and scientific means the science of cost engineering for the public.

    Sections are required to submit grant expenditure reports throughout the grant term and to maintain grant expenditure records in accordance with the prescribed policy. Records may be requested for audit or review if requested by AACE headquarters, the Board of Directors, or other outside regulatory authorities or financial auditors.
