2025 Charge Conference Form Logo
  • 2025 Charge Conference Form

  • Within the pastoral charge, the basic unit in the connectional system in the Global Methodist Church is the Charge Conference. The Charge Conference shall therefore be organized from the church(es) in every pastoral charge and shall meet at least annually. The charge conference shall be the connecting link between the local church and the annual conference, and the general church and shall have general oversight of the church council(s) overall ministry of the local church (¶¶438-439 of the BoDD).

The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe. The South Georgia Annual Conference serves in this mission as it facilitates the mission of the local church. To facilitate this mission and assist in the healthy function and accountability of the local church, you will find below a streamlined Charge Conference report form requesting the minimal required information by the Annual Conference

Charge Conference this year has two primary components:

    #1  Charge Conference Online Form
#2  Charge Conference In-Person Gathering with Presiding Elder (Individual churches or groups of churches)

    CHARGE CONFERENCE ONLINE FORM

The information in this online form MUST be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to your in-person Charge Conference scheduled by your Presiding Elder.  After you submit the form, the submitter's and pastor's email in the form will receive an email with a Complete form attachment which you will print for your attendees of your charge conference. Your Presiding Elder will also be notified and provided a copy of your submission for their review.

    CHARGE CONFERENCE IN-PERSON GATHERING

Each church will be scheduled for an in-person Charge Conference by your Connectional Community Presiding Elder.  At your Charge Conference meeting, copies of the submitted form should be provided to Charge Conference members so they may be informed prior to the appropriate votes required by the BoDD.

At the completion of the Charge Conference session, the appropriate members of the Charge Conference (or their delegates) must sign the Charge Conference Minutes forms (included in your completed Online Form) and will be collected by your Presiding Elder at the end of the Charge Conference.

COMPLETING YOUR ONLINE CHARGE CONFERENCE FORM

It is recommended to block out 30 minutes to complete this form in one sitting. This of course will require that you have the information required at the ready — which includes all of your lay leadership information, pastor information and compensation, pastor's report, and other relevant data. It is helpful to scroll through the form to identify all that is needed prior to starting.

All fields with asterisks are required.  The form will not allow submission without completing all required fields.  Please be sure to SUBMIT your form at the end of the process.  Until you submit and receive a form completion page, your information has not been submitted.

Also note, each church in a multi-point charge must submit its own form! Further instructions for multi-point charges will be provided in the form itself.

Should you have any questions regarding how to complete this form or the process, please contact your presiding elder for assistance.

      FOR MULTI-POINT CHARGES

As per the Book of Discipline, all churches in a multi-point charge share the same lay delegate to the Annual Conference.   While other local church leadership may be distinct, when entering your Lay Delegate information, this must be agreed upon by all churches in the charge prior to submitting — and each church in the charge should submit the same person.  If differing people are submitted, this will need to be reconciled at the Charge Conference.

When filling out pastor compensation, please enter the total compensation of the pastor, and not the distinct participant amounts agreed by each church.

Certificates of insurance must be provided to the South Georgia Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church and must list the “The South Georgia Annual Conference of the GMC, Inc.” as an additional insured (Section VIII.1). Congregations may request exceptions to the required minimum coverage from the Connectional Council. See attached Proposed Conference Policies and Procedures."

Justification: Churches of the Global Methodist Church have a moral and fiscal duty to insure their ministers and provide sufficient protection not only to the individual but the local church and the South Georgia Annual Conference.

UPDATE: Per the Resolution of the Connectional Council below, this policy has been suspended and exemptions are not currently required. Despite the suspension, all churches should use their best effors to insure all liabilites that may be faced by the church, their appointed clergy, employed clergy and assigned laity (CLMs). If churches have adequate coverage they are still invited to submit their certificates to the conference.

    • Annual Conference 2025 approved Petition #11 listed in the 2025 Conference Journal which states, "Modify the existing Conference Policies and Procedures to add a requirement for all member churches of the South Georgia Global Methodist Conference to participate in MinistrySafe, or an equivalent program approved by the Connectional Council, for required training and background reports for all volunteers working with children, youth and vulnerable adults, and all staff (Section VIII.2). See attached Proposed Conference Policies and Procedures.

      Justification:
To ensure the local church remains a place to allow for people to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly, it is vital that the safety and protection of children, youth, and vulnerable adults be a top priority for every congregation within the Global Methodist Church.
