We, the members and supporters of the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County, write to you during this reckless government shutdown to say one thing clearly: thank you for holding the line.
Republicans in Congress and Donald Trump have chosen to shut down the government as part of a political stunt—threatening New Mexicans’ health care, food assistance, jobs, and livelihoods. While they refuse to negotiate, you have shown courage by standing firm to protect our families, our rural hospitals, our federal workforce, and the services our communities depend on.
We know the pressure in Washington is intense. But here in New Mexico, we see what’s at stake. We are with you as you demand that any funding bill extend Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, protect Medicaid, and stop harmful cuts from the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
Republicans may choose brinkmanship and cruelty, but Democrats in New Mexico are united. We support your fight to protect working families, seniors, veterans, and every community across our state.
Please know that we not only have your back—we are ready to help. Our members are already taking action here at home: we are hosting events, sending emails, and making calls to keep our communities informed and mobilized. We will continue to organize, amplify your message, and spread the truth about who is responsible for this shutdown and why your leadership matters so much right now.
New Mexico is fortunate to have an all-Democratic congressional delegation that is standing with courage and conviction for our people. Together, we will hold the line against Republican cruelty and keep fighting for a future that protects every New Mexican.
