BASIC SCHEDULING AND CIRRICULUM
Friday: 9 AM - Sunday at 1 PM (October 22-24, 2026-Canton, NC)
Two Day Wilderness Getaway Schedule (with Camp Cooking Focus)
Day 1 (Friday): Foundation & Camp Kitchen Setup
9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (9 hours)
Arrival, safety briefing, and camp setup
Camp cooking station setup: Introduction to Coleman grills, 2-burner stoves, and backpacking stoves
Lunch prep: Hands-on cooking with 2-burner stoves - participants cook their own meals with instructor guidance
Basic fire-making and fire safety
Dinner preparation: Groups rotate through different cooking methods using their own food supplies
Evening campfire discussion and tent setup
Day 2 (Saturday): Skills Development & Cooking Mastery
8:00 AM - 6:00 PM (10 hours)
Breakfast cooking: Practice with backpacking stoves - participants prepare their own breakfast
Water procurement and purification methods
Lunch challenge: Teams cook their own complete meals using different equipment
Basic shelter construction and outdoor safety
Foraging walk for edible plants
Dinner preparation: Advanced camp cooking techniques - participants cook their own dinner
Night cooking safety and equipment maintenance
Day 3 (Sunday): Application & Departure
8:00 AM - 1:00 PM (5 hours)
Final breakfast: Independent cooking using preferred method with own food
Equipment breakdown and maintenance
Skills review and outdoor cooking Q&A
Camp cleanup and departure preparation
Note: Participants bring all their own food and cook their own meals throughout the weekend. Instructors provide guidance, equipment instruction, and cooking techniques only.
Equipment Rotation: Small groups cycle through Coleman grills, 2-burner stoves, and backpacking stoves for hands-on experience with each.
