This agreement outlines the roles and responsibilities of COVEY and the Participant when a befriending/mentoring match is officially ended with the named Volunteer.
COVEY does not encourage volunteers to remain in touch with participants they have supported. If a young person and/or their family decides to continue any involvement with the volunteer they must fully understand that they are doing so on an individual basis and not as a COVEY service user.
At the end of a befriending/mentoring match, COVEY no longer has responsibility for/or involvement in the relationship between the befriender/mentor and the young person/family.
If it is the case that COVEY has been involved at a child protection level, they will no longer attend any meetings in relation to the welfare of the child who was befriended/mentored because support for that young person has now ended.
The young person and their family must fully understand that COVEY's Confidentiality Policy still applies at the end of a match and when a volunteer ceases to volunteer for COVEY. We will keep all records of support for 3 years after organisational support has ended – in line with our GDPR Policy.
I understand that if I remain in touch with the named Volunteer, who was my volunteer befriender/mentor, I am undertaking a private relationship. I understand that should any issues arise from this private relationship I cannot make any formal complaint to COVEY.
