  • CCAE Theatricals invites playwrights and theatre-makers to submit new works for our 2026 Staged Reading Festival. Building on the successes of our 2024 and 2025 festivals, we continue our commitment to celebrating human connection through bold, inclusive, and thought-provoking theatre.

    The mission of CCAE Theatricals is to celebrate the human connection through theatre and education by sharing stories that illuminate the individual experience and cultivate a collective voice.

    About the Festival

    The Staged Reading Festival showcases work that sparks curiosity, empathy, and joy — helping artists and audiences navigate our complex world together. We welcome submissions from playwrights of all experience levels and are especially interested in stories that challenge expectations, expand perspectives, and celebrate bravery, complexity, and inclusivity.

    What to Include:

    • A brief personal biography (your journey in theatre) (max 150 words)

    • A resume 

    • A one-paragraph synopsis of your piece (max 150 words)

    • A complete script/score (PDF format preferred)

    • A brief statement (max 150 words) about how your work aligns with the festival and organization mission

    Submission Parameters:

    • Works may be musicals, straight plays, or devised theatre

    • Production History: Works must not have received a full professional production.

    • Previous workshops, readings, or academic productions are welcome.

    • Works will be categorized and presented in one of three formats:

    - Short-form: up to 30 minutes

    - One-acts/Mid-length: up to 60 minutes

    - Full-length: 2+ acts or 60+ minutes

    • We are not currently accepting works written exclusively for virtual presentation.

    Timeline:

    • Submission deadline: January 4th, 2026

    • Notification of selections: March-April, 2026

    • Festival rehearsals and performances: Week of August 17th, 2026
