According to our governing documents, homeowners elect the Board of Directors, not the officers directly. Once the new Board is seated, it then elects from among its members the officers — President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
In practice, this has often looked like members voting for officer positions, and the results usually line up the same way. Moving forward, we want to be clear in our language:
Today you are electing the Board of Directors. After the election, the Board will hold its first meeting and select its officers. So, when you see names listed for President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, think of those as nominees for seats on the Board. Once the Board is elected, it will formally assign officer roles.
